Can you tell that I'm still trying to come up with a 'title' for my design threads?

Goblin Merchant Swindler

Creature-Goblin Merchant
Uncommon
: Target player discards a card at random, and then draws a card.
2/1
"You like shiny thing, yes? Shiny thing is non-negotiable."

-Yes, Merchant is a new creature type. I think there might be potential here that is not currently being fulfilled by other current creature types, and it carries more weight than having the creature classless .
-I realize that a goblin using broken English and then immediately following it up with a polysyllabic word like negotiable (or polysyllabic for that matter) paints a weird picture, but I thought it was funny enough to include.
-EDIT: given a better name

Goblin Archaeologist

Creature-Goblin Shaman
Common
When Goblin Archaeologist enters the battlefield, return a card at random from your graveyard to your hand.
2/1
"I found a rock!"

-I'm making it something of a personal crusade to get raw card advantage into red in ways that make sense. Even if you're getting back something worthless, you're still getting back something.
-EDIT: added flavor text. God help me, I love the little morons.

It implies that the goblin pretends to be stupid to lure in customers. Which is cool. But its typeline is its name, which is not so much.

Agreed on all counts.

I like the idea of a Merchant type, I think WotC needs to be more free with types. And while the card itself isn't particularly origional, I think it is a better version of what's currently in the game.

Goblin Archaeologist is like a fairer Eternal Witness type thing, I really like it.

Edit: Gave merchant a better name than it's type line. Gave Archaeologist really dumb flavor text.

That flavour text is a work of art. I giggled IRL.
