Let's say Elgaud Shieldmate is already in play. I then play Beguiler of Wills and Soulbind them together. Since Soulbind is something that happens when entering the battlefield (unlike an Equip), will that save Beguiler in time to prevent Murder ? Will it save Elgaud Shieldmate in time?

Soulbond is a triggered ability, it uses the stack and can be responded to. They can respond to the trigger with Murder

No. Soulbond is a triggered ability (two, actually) and as such, can be responded to.

702.93a. Soulbond is a keyword that represents two triggered abilities. “Soulbond” means “When this creature enters the battlefield, if you control both this creature and another creature and both are unpaired, you may pair this creature with another unpaired creature you control for as long as both remain creatures on the battlefield under your control” and “Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, if you control both that creature and this one and both are unpaired, you may pair that creature with this creature for as long as both remain creatures on the battlefield under your control.” Always a good idea to check what the keywords actually mean.

I'll second that advice, especially in Soulbond's case - you have to read the reminder text very carefully to get "triggered ability" out of it. Normally they're much better at signalling really basic information (type of ability [activated, triggered, static], targeting if any) in reminder text, even when in some other respect it isn't strictly accurate, but Soulbond's is quite bad in this respect. (Not that I have a better suggestion in my pocket, or anything.)
