@Mise_Mage:  I don't like Familiar's Ruse.  It seems cute, but its likely never going to work out how you want.

@Svetlio:  That list is definitely a control list.  It packs a lot of disruption and very few threats.  That's the "Loam Assault" list I was referring to when I talked about a Loam control deck.  It's not "Aggro Loam".  The "Aggro Loam" list is an aggressive deck that's in Legacy, but I haven't seen it converted into Modern yet (it could have been, but I haven't seen it).  Plus, the name of the deck itself clearly identifies it as an aggressive deck...

As for your concerns about the deck, the plan is just to stall until you can stick a threat.  That's how most control decks work.  Instead of using card draw to find answers/threats, this list is going to just use stall tatics.  Why would you care about drawing extra cards when you can literally buy yourself an infinite amount of time by leaving up 2 mana each turn?

As for Deprive, it might be fine.  I just don't like the idea of stunting your own growth that much.

This deck doesn't just lose to Thrun.  If they've been Silenced, they can't play Thrun.  Plus, as far as I know, Thrun isn't exactly a large piece of the metagame.  Even if it were in the sideboard of every green deck in the format (it's not), you could still beat it by having Scepter/Silence, Scepter/Helix, Clique and maybe even Scepter/Bolt and any other creature.

So when UR Delver came out to win a GP, did Christian Calcano email/call you and thank you personally, or was there just a mutual understanding?

Legitimately laughed at this...haha

No kidding. +1 internets for a hidden gem in the standard deck help.

I hate to say it(i might sound like a jerk) but I TOLD YOU SO. You don't need lightning angels or isochron mumble and shenanigans to win with this deck.

You didn't tell us anything.  That's a completely different deck idea than what is being discussed.  Is it a good list?  Absolutely, but it's not in any way related to what we were trying to brew and discuss.

I will say that after seeing a couple streamers testing a Scepter deck, I might be wrong about Geist of Saint Traft.  I was underestimating how clear the board stays with a Scepter in play.  I was expecting there to be something around (a big Tarmogoyf, a persisted Finks, a random Snapcaster, etc.), but that simply wasn't the case at all.  Geist is probably better than Lightning Angel because of that factor.

I'm really liking this deck idea with some of the cards from Return to Ravnica.  Lots of goodies seems to be around at under 2 CMC.
