I just thought of this for that green miracle Revenge of the Hunterd . I could sideboard in Mental Missteps to help out against them, or anyother 1cc miracle card.  Would this work or would the cmc still be the one on the top line of the card I stead of the miracle cost?  Thanks in advance.

CMC always refers to the cost in the top right corner of the card. All other casting methods are just alternate casting costs (madness, miracle, flashback, etc.)

Not strictly true, for example, if you miracle a bonfire, it costs XXR, rather than just R when on the stack, see Conflagrate's gatherer entry for details.

So then a miracle cost of R for say Thunderous Wrath can be countered by a mental misstep if miracled?

ffs... NO. Thunderous Wrath, no matter how you pay for it or cheat it into play, has a CMC of 6.

The converted mana cost of every spell (sans-Future Shifted) is the numbers and symbols in the upper right corner of the card. The only exception is cards that have an in their converted mana cost. In that case, the converted mana cost will be the cost plus X.

Ex: Player A casts Consume Spirit . He pays for the and spends 5 black mana on X. Thus, 5+=7 and Consume Spirit 's converted mana cost will be 7.
