I'd like to build a Sharuum deck as well. 
I'd suggest Deadeye Navigator + Great Whale or Palinchron for infinite mana. Then you steal everything on the battlefield or just kill everyone off at the same time

Peregrine Drake is more efficient that Great whale. Palinchron is good because it bounces itself, so you don't need the navigator, just lands that produce multiple manas.

When playing Commander, before you add a card to your deck, you have to ask yourself:
"Is this card better than Rings ?"
If you play commander and don't have your deck[s] in the Decklist Compendium, maybe you should. Or if you're new or looking into the format, the compendium has some good advice for beginners as well as decklists.

While Snappy certainly doesn't hurt, he really isn't a necessity. Most Sharuum decks don't even run him. If you have one or can get one easily then go for it, but if not I wouldn't sweat it.

If you generate enough mana and are feeling cheeky you can play Prototype Portal and crank out tons of Wurmcoils
