Say I've got the Wheel on the field and Rector dies.

Can I still activate Rector's exile ability to fish out an enchantment, or does it go to the bottom of the deck?

What about something like Aura Thief, that triggers when it hits the graveyard?

The Rector does not go to the graveyard so it does not die and it does not trigger.

Same thing.  It doesn't die so it doesn't trigger.

Wheel of Sun and Moon
Academy Rector
Aura Thief

Wheel of Sun and Moon basically disables deathtriggers, so neither the Rector nor the Thief work anymore

Please Autocard. [c]Academy Rector[/c]= Academy Rector (don't copy and paste that or you'll copy the tags I used to make it visible - type it out).

"Dies" means "goes to the graveyard from the battlefield". Something that never enters the graveyard doesn't die, so neither Academy Rector nor Aura Thief will trigger while affected by Wheel of Sun and Moon.

Thank you both for the answers. I was trying to figure out the feasibility of combining Wheel and Energy Field in a deck that revolved around Rectors and Aura Thief.

you need something that recycles as a trigger, for example the ultimate of Tamiyo, the Moon Sage

That doesn't work either, since the card never goes to the graveyard.

it does because it is a trigger and not a replacement effect

I thought you were suggesting to combo it with the Wheel of Sun and Moon.

no, I meant it as a replacement for the Wheel
so that deathtriggers still work, but the creatures get removed from the graveyard
