Sean,

I have been playing 2HG for the last hour. 70% of my games were some kind of blue paired with celestial. That 6/6 came out in the first drop of  60% of those 70% encounters. (Did someone figure out a cheat or something to land that 6/6 guy all the time like that?) This has to really be remedied. God forbid it was paired with Talrand, replicate turn 4 when already 2 of those 6/6 are out.

I know this has been touched on before. But this is straight up ridiculous.  This completely ruined my game evening with 2HG and Magic in general. I'll go hit up some Civilization Revolution.  Sorry... but I had to rant about this crap. Long day at work, then hit up the gym and this was supposed to be my unwind.

Can't unwind with this bs being exploited.

@Timmybee,

I am a informed a consumer. I have spent 8k in the last 5years on these things.

I have a LED which runs right up there with Plasma - but better -- not static burn in & no loss of gas 5-6 years later.

I once had a plasma. Paid $3200 when it first dropped around 05' had it for 5yrs. In 05' it gave out. After that I was done with Plasma's.

LED is where it's at now. Only slightly less sharper than Plasma about as much as you holding up a microscope to it to notice the difference. Which in other words - not much.

But these formats will both be elementary viewing once the new Oled technology screens get into the mass market late this year.

in my iPhone. Sorry.
Meant in 2010 my plasma gave out.

And yes it's known for image burn in no matter how you want to chop it up. That's they are cheap now - LEDs cost more

Can't wait for this.  I've been following the organic technology since 05 when I first got into HD technology support and broadcasting.  It's exciting that they are finally getting this close to releasing it.  I remember when it only had a life of a few thousand hours, which sounds like a lot but not when you consider technology even back in 05 was allowing for 300thousand plus hours of a TVs life cycle.

Chancellor of the Spires is one of the worst cards in the deck. With only two of them, you are almost never going to get one in your starting hand. If you do get it in your starting hand, it will just sit there. If you get to cast it, it will get burned immediately.

CW is NOT how a mono blue deck should work.

If anyone in our little group believes in prayer ... we could use all you can give us.

Edit: My name is Mark.
It wouldn't be right to pray for the devil.

I do enjoy mtg2013 and I know it has been said, but I am so frustrated with the land count.  I have almost tossed my iPad in frustration from drawing more land than cards game after game. And how about the exalted deck, it doesn't even count the cathedral of wars as lands!  I have like 27 lands in a weenie deck!  Did a single experienced player ever play this before release?  If I don't have a good starting seven I will lose, there is no way to dig out by drawing just lands.

This needs to be fixed ASAP.

The good news is that if you trim your deck down to 60-1 cards you also get the least amount of land.  Sounds like someone needs to tweak their build a bit in an effort to improve their land distribution.  Yes, having full control over your land count would be ideal, but short of this, trimming your deck is the only effective alternative.  Just stop using bloated decks and the problem will solve itself.

Maybe I should have explained that every deck I'm running is 60 cards.  But a good thing to point out for those that weren't aware of it.  The problem is that the decks are still bloated with land when running 60 cards.  A white weenie deck with 25 land is nonsense, the exalted deck adding even more land when you add Cathedral of War is ridiculous (to be fair, it is the only deck with a decent land count if you remove the Cathedral's)  How hard could this tweak be to implement?  Couldn't this have been the cool upgrade from 2012 to 2013?  Bottom line, even running a 60 card deck doesn't solve the mana flood issues.

Plasmas are bad about burn in.  They run hotter than any other TV.  This has been a known issue for the last decade.  As an informed gamer you should have known this and not bought a plasma.

I already addressed this so I will just link the page where I discussed why I bought a plasma.

I haven't had any problems with any other games, except Dragons Dogma, whether it be the many, many hours spent on Dark Souls, or other titles that have a static HUD like Max Payne 3 etc.

Also, it was my understanding that the OLED technology was even more susceptible to burn in than plasmas?

OLED's do look fantastic though. I saw some videos of LG and Samsung OLED tv's and they look fantastic.  The price on the other hand is well out of my range; £6400 for the upcoming 55" LG OLED...I'll have to wait a couple of years for production levels to pick up so the price drops before I will be able to pick one up.

Dear Wizards_Sean,

Threshold, Flashback, Dredge, Unearth...
Duels Leaderboards, how do they work?

Well, okay, there is information on how they work here:
research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/tr...

My question is, are we ever going to get anything different than TrueSkill on the 360? I know it was developed in-house by Microsoft Research, but is that the only reason we see it year after year? Personally, I don't find this system works very well in a game predominately ruled by 1v1 matches.

Random info:
I think it was about 2 days ago, player Y, with a TS=34, passed player i, also with a TS=34, for the top spot on the Two Player Leaderboards. These were the only 2 players at 34 at that time. There were 4 at 31, 2 at 30, 11 at 29, 44 at 28, 138 at 27, and over 8999 at 26 and below.

So now this morning, I see that player i is back in the top spot again, but now his TS=35, while player Y is still at TS=34.

Now there's no way of knowing (outside of asking these individuals) how many games they have played recently. However, we have a little tool to find out how many games they've actually won recently...the monthly/weekly leaderboards. The scores there, I have found, only reference your wins. Total score/3=total wins to be precise. These scores never actually go down.

So I saw, on the monthly boards, player Y has a score of 315, equating to 105 wins. Player i, who somehow not only retook the top spot, but gained an entire TS point in the process, has 63 points this month, equating to 21 wins. That seems...................fair?

I know the articles on TrueSkill claim the system will always try to match players of similar skill together (it seemed to work just fine in the Halo games), but is this actually the case on Duels? If you want my opinion, I do not think so.

The leaderboard climb for those who did not "reserve their spots" during week 1 of release is a tough one indeed. Total Mount Everest style. Win, go up a teensy bit. Lose, plummet.

So, again, will we get anything else other than our Microsoft-developed current system (which is fine for team games, but is easily exploited in the world of 1v1 games)? Even a simple total wins/total losses would be nice. You'll still get your sales data if you adopt a different system...

Just curious.

Sincerely,
A Sometimes Competitive Dude

p.s. PS3 and Steam users...what do they use for your leaderboards? Are you guys saddled with the True"Skill" thing as well? Or do you have some ELO system like the iPad does (and for the record, that is not a true ELO system...I don't know what the heck it is...the thing it resembles most is the current IRL Magic Planeswalker Point system, but an erratic form of that, at best)

I've played on both, and they both seem to have the same system, where you start at 1600 and move towards the max of maybe.. 2797?  However, other than that, I'm afraid I can't explain it much further.  I followed some threads that speculated on it for 2012, but nothing concrete ever came out of it.  My best guess at the moment is that the points you gain/lose are based off of the ranking of the person you're playing.  I swear I can gain points for losing, but lose points after beating someone 5-out-of-5.

Is there any chance of some of the left out plane cards being implemented later? Looking on this list of cards there are like 15 planes not in the game. Some are understandable because they would make certain decks have a guaranteed win, but there are still at least 10 of them that should make a nice addition to the game:
