And you kinda need a soul to have a spark, and Phyrexia doesn't really do souls.

Karn disagrees.

Karn is currently in possession of a metric butt-ton of souls as a result of the circumstance that gave him his spark in the first place, and even before that he developed a soul of his own over the course of his long life.

Right, so he wasn't born with a soul and was given some souls as well, why can't this occur with phyrexians do this as well?  If they don't have souls to start with, perhaps a chosen few can develop some over time.

No, no, you're not getting it. You have to be BORN WITH THE SPARK. The one and only reason that Karn has the spark is because he absorbed both Urza and Glacian, both of whom had sparks of their own.

Basically, a Phyrexian that was decanted from the Vats would have to have some sort of extremely powerful piece of equipment that could transfer an existing spark to them. And even then, it's a bit hit or miss, as seen with Memnarch's attempt to get Glissa's spark.

Sheoldred is probably the top-runner since unlike the other 4 Praetors she doesn't have some weird personal vision for Phyrexia that would go out of its way to alienate the other colors. I can easily see her lying through her whatever-she-has-for-teeth to the other factions to gain their favor.
Or blackmail.
Or murder.
Or delicious candy.
You know, whatever works.

I have this weird image in my head of Phyrexia being Halloweentown, with Sheoldred trying to be Sandy Claws and making horrible toys and candy.

Though Urabrask is probably most like Jack, with Sheoldred being Oogie Boogie. Lock, Shock and Barrel are three of the Thanes, of course. Elesh Norn is the mayor, Jin-Gitaxias is Dr. Finklestein, and Vorinclex is... uh... Hm, not sure.

My goodness, people, let them stretch the story a bit. Wizards has to plan for the long-term, here, because the game (hopefully) will still be needing stories to tell for decades to come. Rushing from "The appearance of the Eldrazi and the Phryexians" to "Then they fight" in just three years is not the way to make a story last.

Patience. We'll get something cool eventually. Let's let Return to Ravnica tell its own story in the meantime.

Long story short; Karn is a very special case that should always be treated as the exception and never the rule.  Wizards has put countless years worth of storytelling into driving home the point that Phyrexians just can't have Sparks.  For a quick and easy nerd reference, you'd sooner see a random Borg manifest the powers of a Q.  It's not going to happen.  While Brady did say that the newer 'Walkers can be completed....forcefully if necessary, I'm pretty sure that the process would effectively kill the mortal 'Walker and thus, extinguish the Spark.

I'm pretty okay with the Venser husk coming back Ertai-style as the new "Father of Machines" and using his sizable knowledge of the planes and artifact tinkering to help kick-start Jin's R&D lab to making some portals to get this whole invasion thing going again.  But just a random Phyrexian off the street (Praetor or no) isn't going to ever be 'Walking anywhere on their own power.

I'm sorry my simple joke explanation doesn't include the exception to everything .

Also worth noting: The Spark is tied to the soul. Of that we're sure. Phyrexia can't even comprehend that. They probably don't even have a word for soul in their language.

If so, then Benzir and pals probably have some issues in expressing their belief system...

Not particularly; Benzir and his cohorts are compleated Mirrans, so could use whatever the Mirran term for soul is.
