Thank you Wizards for M13. At first I thought that the set was very underpowered and sure, maybe it doesn't bring a whole bunch to current type 2 play...
As for sealed/draft...this set has been amazing! I have never had as much fun as I have had this weekend playing sealed/draft. Every single sealed/limited deck I saw this weekend looked fun to play and it was fun to play against.
I think sometimes the pressure of tyring to stay in a win percentage in type 2 makes some folks, myself included, loose focus of whats important...having a good times with friends.
So, from the folks at my LGS....a big thank you to Wizards for a great set with solid play, lots of options, and amazing flavor!
Current Standard: Mono-White Humans Mono-Black Control B/U Zombies
Current Modern: B/W/R Grislebrand/Zombie Infestation
I can't speak to the playstyle of the set, but from a flavor perspective the set is a gem. So, for all so similarly inclined Vorthos players out there, thanks, Wizards!
I also had a good time at the prerelease this weekend. I played in a 2HG prerelease, and my team took first despite not having much in the way of bomb-y stuff. We did have Thundermaw Hellkite , but it didn't seem to unbalance things too far in our direction. All in all it seemed to work well as a set. So I'll agree it was a good time.
I'm just happy with the set. The shop had a whole bunch of new players that tried out the starter decks and jumped into playing sealed. A lot of the vets helped them out and got them excited about the game.
I, for one, love when newer folks start, it means longevity to the game that I have enjoyed since on and off since '95. The who prelease had just a great feel to it and it seemed easier for newer folks to "get it". The shop really had an old school feel to it, instead of the normal highly competitve atmosphere.
It was refreshing to see, for sure. I don't know how everyone else's releases went, but I had a great time.

Drunk with love and being a pyromaniac caused me to miss all of the M13 events. (Explaining to the girl you love that she didn't hear from you in a couple days because your friend that shot you with a BB gun also set your phone on fire is not the easiest thing to do). It's good to see that people aren't saying too many bad things about the set, though. I like the set, and my friend and I think that it's good because it's not over the top, but yet not too weak.
I wasn't able to make it to a prerelease, but I'm pretty pumped about it. I really like the cycle of legends, as well as many of the reprints that will fill gaping holes in my EDH decks.
