Looking for details on how this combo works out. Here are the cards used: bazaar trader + lich's mirror + false cure + fireball Here's what I'm looking at: 1. With the trader and mirror on the field, "donate" the mirror to your opponent. 2. Play False Cure, and then kill your opponent with fireball. First, that player "loses," but then the Lich's mirror creates a replacement effect (I think that's how it's worded). Now, the mirror states you shuffle blah blah blah and all permanents you own into your library, then draw seven cards, set your life total to 20. I believe this means Lich's Mirror stays on the field for them. However, I also know that rule 118.5 says "If an effect sets a player’s life total to a specific number, the player gains or loses the necessary amount of life to end up with the new total." This means that when they go to 20 life, because I cast False cure , they should go back down to below 0, and "lose again," thus retriggering the mirror, and repeat, causing my opponent to "lose" an infinite number of times. (I also know this means the combo will only work if they lose via damage, or lose another way with 10 life or less [from 10 life, they gain 10, false cure makes them lose 2 for each 1 gained, so they lose 20 and go to 0]) Here's what I'd like to know: 1. Does this work the way I'm saying it does? 2. While I do know infinite loops end games as a draw, does holding a shatter allow me to end the loop before it ends as a draw? Just wondering if I can actually make an opponent lose "infinity times" because that would be awesome

if you cannot stop the loop, the game will end in a draw if you can stop the loop you are not obliged to do so
also not sure why killing them once is not enough

All of my friends an I tend to have a least one "joke" deck: one of my friends found a quote for a decklist online somewhere that said "Magic is not about winning, it's about getting your tricks to work." I was just looking to see if the combo did work that way, and maybe I'd throw it into a deck. My friends and I each tend to have a deck that's just "shenanigans" and spends more time confusing things than trying to win.
I know to some people that sounds stupid, but it's a fun way to get each other to stop playing the same competitive decks over and over again and just play to have fun.

1) I believe this does work the way you describe. 2) Each time your opponent would lose, Lich's Mirror sets his life total to 20. Then, False Cure's ability triggers and goes on the stack. At this point, you can Shatter the mirror and your opponent will go to some amount of negative life. So you can say that they lost the game "infinite" times if you like. It's not technically accurate, but whatever.

Love the idea!

Sounds familiar?

My current "joke" deck is called "Worst Deck Ever". It consists of numerous ways to lose on the first, second, third and fourth turn. And nothing else.

It has those. My favorite is the card with "Super Haste" (attacks the turn before it comes into play) from one of the "Un-" sets I don't remember the others right now.

You can Shatter the mirror in response to False Cure 's triggered ability. However, if you instead used Rain of Gore , you would never have that chance. EDIT: wait, False Cure is an instant. Is that still a triggered ability?

But would Rain of Gore even apply? Edit: False Cure sets up a delayed trigger.
