Hypotheical: Take all the current Planeswalkers. Teamed up. Who'd be where and what would happen?

Team Bolas: Sarkhan, Tibalt, Tezz, Rakka, Baltrice, Bolas

Versus: Jace, Garruk, Ajani, Sorin Gideon, Chandra, Elspeth, Karn, Koth

Rogue: Liliana, Nissa

Have at it!

How about more one-on-one. Although that could be even worse. And give Keeper ideas...

No, but then again I also flashed to Deadman Wonderland and the Hunger Games too so....

I propose we talk about individual matches and damn the consquences.

Nissa vs Koth go.

That one won't end well for Nissa.
Either she crosses swords with him and the Parasite Blade kills her living vine sword, making her rely entirely on magic, or Sorin sings a little ditty and Nissa ends up as elf pudding on the ground.

Jace is hard to say. They both specialize in mental magics, but Jace, while naturally powerful doesn't have the finesse beings like Bolas or Sorin do. I wouldn't give it to Jace.
I think Liliana could throw down hard with Sorin. Garruk might be able to do it as well. Sarkhan has a chance.

Karn would provide a challenge for Sorin's normal strategy. Aside from that, I don't think Karn could beat anything unless he was trying HELP THEM.

I have no clue where you are getting Rakka from.
Do you mean Ral Zarek? Might as well throw Kiora Atua in there as well.
In addition, Tamiyo is not present.
Tibalt has no interest in fighting, he's about... the artistry of pain, not the brute of it.

Still, single by single cases would be much much more appropriate.

Flag AzureShade July 6, 2012 7:29 AM PDT

My match-ups:

Jace and Garruk team up buddy-cop style against Liliana and Tezzeret.  The fighting is punctuated by Garruk trying to rip Lilly to shreds while she tries to appeal to Jace's feelings for her.  Unfortunatley, Jace is busy trying not to get choked out by Tezz, who has picked up a rather dangerous mental minefield courtesy of Bolas.  Upper hand currently going to Team Tezziana.

Ajani and Koth go at it gladiator-style for days.  Gideon officiates. Neither is willing to admit defeat and both are a scant few seconds from just collapsing in each other’s arms in the manliest of bro-hug power naps.  Gideon wanders off to find Chandra because this is turning into a sausage fest.

Nissa convinces both Chandra and Elspeth to go with her in a Charlie's Angels style beat down on Sorin.  Sorin, for his part, is perplexed as ****, but lays down the pain with the best of them.  While the girls have the numbers advantage, Sorin has been doing this sort of thing for eons.  Toying with a trio of impulsive, angry ladies with emotional issues seems like a solid way to spend an afternoon.  During the fight Sorin manages to confront each girl with their inner-most fears of inadequacy.  After a major breakthrough, they decided to stop fighting, and all go out for karaoke instead.  Sorin pays.

Nicol Bolas spends the day gnawing on Karn.  Karn spends the day not caring.  In the end, Sarkhan is all "Hey, are you two done yet?" and both of them are all "Nah, we cool."  And then they both spend some time talking about grand plans that they were part of that ended in catastrophic failure.  Bolas muses about how Karn manages to fit all those powerful artifacts and parts of other planeswalkers inside himself.  Karn reveals to Bolas that he is a Time Lord.

Flag MasterGing July 6, 2012 7:47 AM PDT
Rakka Mar is a Walker from Alara Unbroken. She was Bolas' servant who fought along side Sarhkan before he met Bolas himself.
I'm still of the opinion that Tibalt will get snatched up by Bolas.
Tamiyo's on the sideline chronicling the battle.

Personally, I think Tibalt will remind Elspeth of the Phyrexians and she'll go to town on him.
I'd even speculate Lil, Jace & Garruk team up on Tezz & Baltrice for the " Greater Good" the Garruk turns on Lili after. (He did start their fight)

Ok. Here's my real question. Whose gonna take out Bolas. Odds are even with everone's combined forces, they won't kill him.

How's this Jace telepathically tells Tamiyo of Tezz's Manablade left on Kamigawa. She retreives it. Koth retreives Venser's corpse, which Lili reanimates. Undead Venser pulls a Nightcrawler style attack with the manablade. Then Karn sacrifices Mirrodin by drawing all its mana into himself, and right after everyone else runs like hell from holy water, goes Supernova right in ol' Niky's face.

It's definitely going to be a team effort since neowalkers have been nerfed. I remember Skibo reminding me that Ajani was able to temporarily beat Bolas because he was backed by the power of the Conflux (please feel free to correct).

You bringing up Karn... it actually won't be that farfetched, I mean they would be hitting 2 birds with one stone if ever. But isn't Karn busy with other things tho? :/

Flag MasterGing July 6, 2012 6:44 PM PDT
Your right about Ajani and the Conflux Maelstrom.

Karn is currently hulking out on the Phyrexian infestation of Mirrodin, but in this instance... Let's just say her realized Tezz was associating with the Phyrexians and traced him back to Bolas.

Karn finally says, "You know what...**** it. Urza made me go blow **** up. Bolas!!! Tag....your it!"

Skibo will insist it will be Jace with very little to back that up other than MaRo likes the Heroes Journey and since Jace is the icon of Magic that must mean he's on the Hero's Journey... DESPITE the fact that nothing about his story coincides with it.
Jace is not the Hero.

Venser is almost dead certainly going to stay a rotting withered piece of crap magic rock. I think you also overestimate Liliana's skills. She can animate the dead. She can't make them act like they did in life. They're meat puppets, not beings.

Jace still has the Manablade btw. Even then... it's a dragon. A knife will do little.
Karn also no longer has the ability to sacrifice Mirrodin. The power that it took to create is what it would take to destroy.
Aside from all that, they won't cross the Phyrexian and Bolas streams.

Tezz isn't the problem, the Phyrexians are. That would be like attacking the fly that is buzzing around the bloodthirsty lion.
If he knew Tezz was told to keep them destabilized, he might LOOK for Bolas to help.

My theories for Bolasdeath (likely not impending at all)
1) Impaled on the bowsprit of a Skyship
2) Tries to mess with the Eldrazi and gets unmade by his own scheming
3) Arrow through the eye, fired by a nonwalker notable.
4) Beatdown conga that sees massive forces arrayed against him all get their hits in.  For instance "Liliana lures him to plane X, Gideon binds his winds so he falls, Chandra and Koth tag-team him with magical attacks, and Elspeth rides in for the kill in melee"
Flag Skibo_the_first July 6, 2012 9:59 PM PDT
I'm leaning towards Jace killing him in some contrive manner (Something akin to spirit Bolas)

Unless Creative wusses out, in which case Jace will just weaken Bolas, and Tezzert will kill him.

Then again, my storyline predictions tend to suck.

My prediction is that Bolas will be defeated by something or someone found within his vast past that he underestimated and believed he had killed but it came back with a vengeance, killing him without much effort at all.

This entity will probably become the new big bad. Something that can't be scoffed at and be akin to Doomsday/Apocalypse in demeanor and power level.

In only slightly related news: Jace V Professor X. I know X is much more powerful and skilled, but his powers are based on some physical thing in his brain (I assume), meaning he has to get to the mind through the target's brain. Jace shouldn't have this problem. So does the difference matter? Or would it only matter with someone closer to Jace's power/skill level.

How Bolas should defeat Karn: Sarkhan takes on dragon form and the combined power of two dragons fire melts him.  He is, at the end of the day, silver.

How Bolas probably would defeat Karn: Have already planned for this eventuality and used infiltrators within the Izzet league to develop magnetism and create a magnetic field at the location Bolas chooses to combat Karn.  Sufficient exposure to magnetic fields with magnetise even silver and thus will trap Karn there while some incomprehensibly complicated machine tears him apart for further study.

Karn answers with giant laser.

Failing that, traveling back in time, lasering Bolas 10 seconds before they meet.

I think Bolas would out think Karn in some way

Dosnt sound like Gideon would be to happy about that
Aslo, in an non planswalker related duel, Emrakul vs Progenitus would be awesome

Emakrul. Like a lot. Assuming Proginitus didn't actually create Alara, Emakrul would just grey dust it.
