Okay my bad, i confused her for an angel due to the wings[/card] she also has the scaly kind of wings :U and the commander deck shes featured in. But still my point stands that there is quite a gap between Lia and Kaalia. Your explanation may be a possibility but theres nothing in the story indicating that or how she actually went from artifact shatterer to summoner of hordes of angels, demons and dragons.
Except the big ass time gap between being a little girl and an adult. And there's nothing that says that characters can only use one kind of Magic.
Ajani's good at bringing out the best in others, and shooting lightning out of his hands.

I know i know.
The scaly wing thingy i thought was due to her unique nature to interact with demons and dragons as well as angels. And what says angels can only have feathered wings?
Yeah time is the big thing that allows for the transition between the two and i know that mages are not bound by one kind of magic. I guess its that it to me felt like a stretch connecting Lia too Kaalia. Theres so little that they(if considered as different persons all together) have in common that you could have never made the connection if it hadnt been spelled out like in the story. The reveal felt like a twist just for the sake of a twist if you can catch my drift.
Then again this is just my opinion and youre free to disagree. The story was fine otherwise, not great but fine without the reveal.

Yeah, the relationship is for now, tenuous at best, but I rather like it. I like that they're willing to develop these really cool cards for side products like Commander and Planechase, and flesh them out. Plus, Lia the Stonekiller is a little girl. Kaalia of the Vast is a grown woman. There's plenty of time in between to flesh out the things that don't yet make sense.

Lia could have learned a lot in that time. Everyone has to start somewhere. It's not like anybody expected that she could summon demons, angels and dragons from birth. That powerful of magic takes time to master, no matter how gifted you are. Hopefully her story will be expanded in a future article to bridge some of the gap between Lia and Kaalia .

Hey, Infinight is back! Psst, I used some of your ideas for the final draft of the Arivan continent. Just letting you know. Incidentally, this establishes Commander as being in an odd, non-specified timeframe. I think we can safely assume that any product without a definite timeline has a specifically indefinite timeline, if that makes sense--individual cards could come from any time period, although I suspect that they'll largely remain in the vague, rolling "present" that surrounds the Conflux and similar events.

Yeah, ive got to agree that i also really like that they are willing to flesh out the Commander and Planechase characters. Kinda sad though that Uncharted Realms started first after Planechase 2012 was released and already in the smackdab of Core Set 2013 so we havent had a chance of getting that fleshed out yet.

Well, they just fleshed out Kaalia, which is even older than the Planechase 2: Planeswalking Boogaloo, so I don't think finding out about Thromok or Wanderer, etc is out of the question.

The fact that they are willing to touch on the Commander cards gives me hope for the others in that product line to be given more development, not soon true but it's nice that they are willing.

Yeah, I'm late to the party. That's happening alot to me lately. But anywho, I wanted to say this:
After reading the article and the responses to it here, I couldn't help but think of Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Cancelled Series, where Yami goes "It's like a fanfiction, but written by actual writers!". I'm not saying it's bad, but it does what fanfiction often does, and that is contradict a previously established if not wll known piece of canon in favor of the rule of cool.
I wanted to find a ~20 second video for that quote, but I couldn't.

I suppose the downside is that it would be just like now, only in the future. And I couldn't get on the internet for places like this, because... well... you saw the episode. Not that going online full-body wouldn't be cool...
All I know is that this place would be a lot steamier if we went in full body. And I'd blame Keeper for it.
Sound advice
