Hello everyone.

Just started playing Magic again after a long time away. I'm only going to be playing local games store events and games nights, but even so the local players are good enough to cane me if they decide to bring out their big guns.

Since I'm never going to be the big man at the table, I thought I could try making a quirky deck that doesn't get me a very good win ratio but makes me feel happy when it does win the odd game.

How about... a Mill deck? Possible within Standard? Stupid? Hilarious? And pointers on where to begin would be gratefully recieved.

I highly doubt that a decent or even a fun Mill deck can be made within the standard environment as it is right now since most of the best Mill cards are not standard legal right now. I would recommend shooting for modern legality this would open up the deck to include Glimpse the Unthinkable , Circu, Dimir Lobotomist , Mind Funeral , Oona, Queen of the Fae , among others including Archive Trap .

Left to itself, nature overflows any container, overthrows any restriction, and overreaches any boundary.

What you will find in the current format is that many players are milling themselves laboratory maniac and the return of the flash back mechanic being two big reasons, however if you want to mill your opponent then some good cards to look at would be:

Dream twist
Geralf's mindcrusher
Increasing confusion
Jace, memory adept
Nephalia drownyard
Thought scour
Undead alchemist

Those are all either from the latest set, or being repeated in m13 so if you do invest you won't need to replace them in 3 months

How many planeswalkers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Spoiler: Show

Better question, what does Nicol Bolas want with the lightbulb?
