So I started playing the deck again...can't stay away.

I actually run the mortivores over the Sewer Nemesis. I think regenerate trumps a self pumping creature. And although it only counts creatures for its P/T, it counts both grave yards. And I kill a lot of creatures. I don't normally cast him until turn 5 or later so that I have at least one mana to regenerate him. Including both copies of him, 2 Spiritmongers and 3 trolls...that's a lot of creatures that I can make stick around for a while. Oh and I almost forgot the slimes. They don't work 100% on the iPad, but it still creates 2 tokens when it dies so that's still pretty good against removal and sacrificing him to GG nets you 1 card and you still have board presence.

I treat the mortivores and the Spiritmongers like they are one spot up on the curve and it actually makes it play a lot smoother.

I also have been running my build with out the elders and honestly, I haven't really missed them. Their place I started running Consume Strength again and I also put the Rancors back in and the deck is actually a lot more aggressive.

I know some people don't like Consume Strength, but it adds something to the deck that no other card does...combat tricks. For the 25+ games that I have been playing it, it has at the very least removed a chump blocker and pumped my attacker. I also just realized another card that it works great with... Master of the Wild Hunt . It lets you take out a 6 toughness creature with a single wolf token. Not to mention all of the two and 3 for ones it makes possible. It also makes my Blood Artist more of a threat.

I was playing against GM and I was attacked with a Onyx Mage and a Hissing Iguanar . So I blocked the mage with my artist and then cast consuming strength, pumping my artist with +2/+2 making him a 2/3 and killing the iguanar with the -2/-2. The result: 2 for 1 and a 4 point life swing to boot.

I admit, that sometimes it can sit in your hand if you don't have two creatures to cast it especially since the deck has so much cheap removal, but I will save my Go for the Throats for bigger creatures knowing that I can consume the smaller ones.

I really like Mortivore but took it out. I run 3x Troll Ascetic and 2x Spiritmonger both of which are just a lot more consistent than Morty. Most of the time you're not going to cast Mortivore until turn 5 or later anways because you want to have an untapped swamp to regenerate so I hardly even consider it to be a 4 drop. At the 5 drop I use 2x Spiritmonger , 2x Mitotic Slime , and Drana, all of which are a lot better than Mortivore imo.

Oh and Geg, Dark heart of the woods has an alternative use to mere life gain.

Pumps up Lord of Extinctions and Vulturous zombies if you run them. I just sacked 5 forests one game and pumped my rancorred LoE up just enough to trample a win.  I was in pretty bad shape if the game went on ( top deck mode) and my opponent just cast a three dreams and already had indestructibility on a stalker and pulled pariah and a followed footsteps (presumably for my Lord)...

I am finding that regenerate is not as important with this deck as it seems on paper. I am about to cut Morty as well. Swear Nemesis and obviously the Lords are more consistently bigger at a faster rate. I've had games on turn 8 where a mortivore is a 2/2.

The best point you made in quite a while, I'll try if it helps me win, I run all 5 copies of these, plus 4 Elders and 2 Emissaries.

Dark Heart of the Wood doesn't actually pump Vulturous Zombie .

...and on the Mortivore point...he's just underwhelming. A lot of the time doesn't grow fast enough + all the different ways to get around regeneration, whether it's just locking him down with something like Pacifism , exiling him, reducing toughness < 1, the numerous "can't be regenerated" cards out there, etc.

Yeah, sorry, made a booboo. Only pumps the Lords. It was still a nice win that I just got. I wish it pumped the zombies as well...I suppose you can use it for sewar nemensis if it was more profitable to you choose yourself at the time...but it seems to mainly be used to get Life and pump up a Lord of Extinction.

Its a noteworthy play though... and at least provides a little extra use to the mere lifegain enchantment...I am going to be running  2x sewar and 2x Lords and 0x morty now...I was actually considering cutting the dark heart card before it just won me this game...now I want to test it some more and I need to chop mortivore...

Wow, I didn't think it through. Btw, it doesn't buff Morty either, but I don't run that guy anyway, I was thinking of Sewer Nemesis. *Turns brain back on*
