When coupled with so many must-answer threats in particular, as well as Rancor and/or Greater Good, any of the graveyard-dependent creatures will be pretty important on the board.  I love Mortivore's resiliency, but he's just not usually as big as the Lord or Nemesis.  His double-black also throws off my mana ratios, and I feel it's very important to have that 11 Forests/9 Swamps tip.

Hm. I do have that WITH the Morts. Lemme go dig my build up.

Basically I just sort of whored out entirely for removal/control with a number of finishers. Now I use this for 2HG, but even if I were dueling with it, I wouldn't change much. Probably throw in the Rats, and cut a land or two. Actually I should probably cut one anyhow, but I'd rather be flooded than screwed.

My god, I'm going to sound like a troll in 3, 2, 1... But honestly, who cares if your LoE is 20/20.  You either would have won with a 7/7 mortivore or with your 20/20 LoE.  It's one hit or (maximum) 3.  The difference is that your 20/20 dies with any destruction, and my 7/7 survives almost anything, including everything in my deck, save one card.

I would agree Mortivore is slightly better, but I run neither. As stated, my build is less than optimal, but it's a blast to play:

Depends on the matchup. Terra Stomper can scare off a 7/7, but not a 20/20. If you have to start racing Ajani's Baneslayers, a 20/20 would be a lot more effective, and this is without regarding Rancor . Yes, there are times when LoE's hugeness would be wasted, but other times it's quite relevant. Plus, it's not like I don't run Morty too. I'm not concerned with running cheap creatures that don't get me land in this. I can take my time winning; I've got buckets of control with a side of lifegain. To me, this is a control deck where I run ten finishers (2 Mort, 2 Nemesis, 2 LoE, 2 Monger, Drana, and Scute Mob).

Yeah, Mitotic/Pact was how I started with the deck too, but wouldn't you want Bloodflow or Patriarch to sac it to on demand? It's not the best use of Greater Good unless it's Rancor'd, IMO.

Pact is just so versatile in this build in general; especially with Master of the Wild Hunt and all the dying wolves, plus lots of triggers off Blood Artist . I would only sack a 4/4 Slime when faced with a lone Invisible Stalker or some other nasty threat.

Lord of extinction is good for its versatile use, in addition to being a huge beater. I cannot remeber how many times I consuming vapor my own lords to save my games.  With greater good,  It also allows you to exhaust half of you library to find a god hand, which always secures your win unless you are facing jace.

I gotta say, when I first started playing this deck, I didn't think much of Blood Artist .  But of all wins, he contributed the most.  He looks so harmless there sitting on the board with his 0/1, that most opponents don't even bother with him.  But then when their life total is below 10, and there's a crapload of creatures on the board - I bring out Damnation and game over.  Happened on more than one occasion.

Just played against a DP deck while using SS, and it was a game of glory for Blood Pact and Blood Artist.
I had two Artists and an Emmisary on the board, along with a Blood Pact. I had whittled the dude down to 4 life.

He pulls out the Chancellor, and I'm STUNNED when he picks GftT out of my GY; he casts it on my Emmisary, so he takes 2 damage from the Artists, then my Blood Pact triggers and he needs to sacrifice his Chancellor, at which point my Artists trigger again and take away his last 2 points of life.

Ouch.

Sure, he was new, but it was still fun to see those cards in action.

Perhaps a bit late to the party, but this is the build I run.
Sewer Nemesis and Vulturous Zombie is too good a combo to ignore, with Mortivore benefiting from nemesis as well.

I'm considering running Grave Pact instead of Asceticism or the last Evolving Wilds.
