WOTC haven't announced how yet. Probably similar to the dragon personas of dotp 2012, you can get the codes to unlock them from stores during certain magic events. If you click on player status -> View promotional unlocks, there is an enter code button to unlock them.
Yeah ive seen the code, where do you type that in, or do you take it along to a wizards store?

Relax, they will be unlocked once you purchase the expansion. They should also be unlockable through codes and such I should think.
How do I know? Chalk it up to one of those "weird hydramarine predictions" that repeatedly took place over the years
(here is to hoping I maintain my long series of streaks)
I hope you're right. It would make no sense not to sell them both ways... and they obviously aren't just doing it for fun.

They have been suprisingly accurate.... >.>
Does that confirm Expansion 2 with Dimir, Gruul, Boros, Orzhova, and Simic decks? As the expansion decks themeselves have promotional unlocks.

All the more reason to belive they will all unlock regardless when you purchase Exp 1.
I have no idea about the February paper expansion, so I don't know what direction of decks they will take in Duels. But if Ravnica theme will continue, those 5 other guilds may get decks indeed.

Just joining the sentiment here.
These will be signifigant additions to each deck and I sincerely hope WOTC doesn't ruin multiplayer by creating have/have-nots by giving away these cards via RL events exclusively.
I get that Duels is a gateway drug and I'm fine with giveaways, just don't exclude the online-only crowd...

I've been a big fan of the duels series since it was released and i'm really happy with all the improvements they've made in the latest installment of the game but if this is true about having to attend events i'll be very disappointed. I simply don't live near enough to attend these events which would give a massive advantage to those players that can. I feel annoyed by the fact that I can't even claim the paper promotional cards each year because of where I live. Giving online players additional advantages over people like myself seems like a really poor decision, I suppose it doesn't really help that i'm not a great player to begin with but something like this just seems unfair.

Kinda like the one where I predicted they would release a deck for each dual colour combination 5 days before five dual coloured decks were leaked?

The problem is that both the people making the games and the people playing them have changed vastly.
Games companies are now run by businessmen imported from different industries, with no experience or passion for games like Activision's Bobby Kotick, rather than artists who lived and breathed their work.
And the people playing them are no longer enthusiasts looking to experience something avant garde on the cutting edge of art and technology like the arcade hall days, but the kind of mindless lab-rats who love grinding for small, imaginary and incremental rewards and plaudits as a form of psychological drug addiction.
Gaming isn't dying, it was killed and replaced by an imposter years ago, and the mask is just starting to slip.
Yes, this is mostly true but there are still good developers out there. I've been pretty happy with Paradox and Bethesda

Of course, Bethesda being famous for their bugs...
