The reason i said to keep the dungeon geist is that you are running a low amount of creatures, even for a delver deck. If you cutone youd be down to 10. I also kinda think that 4 Midnight haunting is too much. Its instant speed which is great, but you already basically have 8 lingering souls. I would reccomend going -2 Midnight Haunting. +1 Vapor Snag, +1 Gut Shot. This hasnt been mentioned yet, but Phantasmal Image is just great here and it fills the 2cmc spot in your curve, creaure wise. It can copy your Captain and if need be legend rule stuff away, namely GoST. I will point out the obvious here and say that Snapcaster is also good if you decide to run him.

yea although unfortunately i don't have that kind of budget. i've tested with this deck and ways it loses is it gets outraced, any suggestions on how to cope with being outraced? perhaps timely reinforcements mainboard or doomed traveler (budgeted ways)?

As for the snapcaster. Awesome card yes. But if youll remember in my original response, giest snatch basically does the same thing. But for this particular deck, and prolly not any other, i think the snatch is very slightly better. Some ups and downs between the two;
pros of giest snatch: creature is flying creature is a spirit can counter even when your opponent has 3+ open mana doesnt require a leak in the grave doesnt cost much cash
pros of snapcaster: 1 extra power dont need to wait for an opponent to cast to get the creature, opening up suprise blocks can be used on bounce/draw instead of a counterpspell emergency blocker cost is only 2 mana
Phantasmal images are awesome.
Now as for what races you down. Im betting its something like 1st turn vampire, second turn shock on your delver. And you are in recovery all match. Seriously, i reiterate mental misstep. You can always side them out if you face pod or control. But for racing, setting them back a turn/saving your best creature on the deck from removal for 0 mana is pretty damn good.
Now im not saying my word is the end all be all in the world of magic. Just keep an open mind.
