The reaction to dropping Phyrexian Obliterator is interesting.  It sometimes stops the game entirely.   People are scared to death of attacking when it's out.   I think it's easily countered by just about any color though some have it harder than others.   I've had it robbed several times by blue and got rid of it without damage.  Once though I was an idiot and did a 8 land Corrupt on it  Conceeded immediately.

So how do you guys feel about this deck vs the lifegain deck? My friends have all been talking about how they feel the deck is broken(I don't buy it) but I have never played against a good lifegain player so I figured id ask y'all. Do y'all think its a solid match-up? Or is it in either decks favor?

It comes down to a race (slightly favored by life gain), you being able to kill them before they gain thousands of life and you CANT kill them.  I dont think it is broken, just has the most annoying kind of mill.

I think this match-up is very favored to OD. I mean, VERY favored. You have kill-spells for every threat they have, and your lategame is absurdly better.

WotC doesn't care about flavor. Their forum is the only place where an ORC can kill a troll...

I find that against CL, it depends on how consistently I draw my removal (which is a game of odds), and then being patient when using them. A lot of the people that I've played against go aggro early and then play control until they get a pumped Ascendant, Rhox or the Mantle for ridiculous life.

Celestial Light is a definite dog in this matchup unless they resolve at least a medium-sized White Sun's Zenith (and fade some sweepers), or resolve a Well of Lost Dreams (and obviously start drawing cards off of it).

The Obedient Dead player can afford to be patient in this matchup. The Celestial Light player, not so much.

OD should only lose to Ajani when mana screwed or mana flooded.  OD has enough removal early, and once the bombs hit, Ajani SHOULDN'T be able to gain life faster than OD's massive critters can remove it at that point.

Liliana is favored against Ajani.  Ajani doesn't have shroud/hexproof to protect creatures and Liliana is heavy on removal.  Ajani's best chance would probably be pretending to be Odric and go with an aggro build without a bunch of anthems.

No problems against life gain.  Just make sure to save Murder, etc for Ajani's Pridemate .  It's a curve where they'll gain a massive amount of life in the first half of the game then stall out just as you get some giant cards out or have a ton of land for pumping shades.

Yea I played a couple of sets against my friend and while it was close(I won 5-4) neither deck was really dominant over the other. The only times I lost were when he got out that card that lets him draw when he gains life or when he got a baneslayer angel and the game refused to give me any removal, plus there was this one game where he got a baneslayer angel, the 4/6 that wins you the game, and when I killed them both he pulled out that card that brings em all back from the grave. Point being, he rarely ever won the close games, usually only when thins went really well for him or went really bad for me. Definitely neither broken nor a bad match-up for liliana(I do wish we had an answer for artifacts and enchantments, id have traded the extra demons we got in promotional unlocks for two artifact removers).

So while we are on the subject of match-ups, what is a bad match-up for liliana? The only decks that have given me consistent problems are the two blues, she seems to have an answer for pretty much every other deck in the game. I thought goblins would be a bad match-up for her, but it seems the opposite might be the case since I only lose to them when I get a really bad hand or something.

Finally, how do you guys feel about the 4 mana artifact that lets you tap ****? At first I was a lil apprehensive but I ran it anyway. Now I absolutely love that card, its won me so many games simply by stalling till I could draw my removal or bombs, or tapping creatures that are big enough to be problems but not big enough to be murdered. I can only imagine it will get even better when the dual color decks show up, tap a single swamp to stop mortivore/spirit monger from regenerating or something like that.
