I just noticed that Odric has the symbol of Avacyn on the hilt of his blade. Interesting how Wizards is tying in the core-set with the Expert sets now aparently. Seems like we're catching glimpses of Alara and Ravnica with some other cards as well.

So, this being the one-thousanth daily deck list, Gavin can't mention that the building on a budget article this week was focused on making this deck in mono-black, and that that article may have been the inspiration for this deck?

I had no idea this was the thousandth Daily Decklist! Very cool. I'm glad I was able to write it.  So, this being the one-thousanth daily deck list, Gavin can't mention that the building on a budget article this week was focused on making this deck in mono-black, and that that article may have been the inspiration for this deck?
The Daily Event this decklist was taken from happened on Monday, June 16th. I even wrote this insert before JVL's article went live, so I didn't even know it existed or I would have definitely linked to him. Looks like just a case of two people coming to the same conclusion. Very cool!

Talrand's Invocation  reveals that Talrand is from Shandalar, though he does look a lot like a Zendikar merfolk.
Oh, turns out Yeva's Forcemage  also reveals Yeva's location, which is Ravnica. Interestingly, it seems like we have two guildless legends here. (Krenko leads his own gang and Yeva doesn't really fit well into any existing guild. Her opinions really only match the Gruul, but her appearence doesn't at all.)

I didn't like the Shadowmoor goat token much, but this one looks awesome. The saproling also looks awesome, but so have most of the saproling tokens.
