How does soulbond not work? Are we all sitting around tables and doing things wrong, even though there are judges and rules that deem that we are doing things properly?

@JustTerrorIt: from a rules framework perspective, the soulbond rules wouldn't do what everyone expects they would do. On an intuitive level, everyone understands how the mechanic is intended to work, but behind the scenes, the way the rule is implemented in the rules, it doesn't work as written.

Don't worry. You're fine. Pair away.

I was thinking, and only two state-based actions would be necessary: one for unpairing noncreatures and one for unpairing two creatures that are not under the same players control. Once one of the creatures leaves the battlefield, the other creature is already unpaired, because there is nothing for it to be paired to. This is why we do not need a state-based action to make a creature unequiped when the Equipment is destroyed.
