not entirely sure why the r/b section of zendikar supports enchantments... but not complaining because this is sweet.

It's in the Totem Armor deck, so it's likely just for synergy there. Still, it does destroy creatures, so it makes some sense, flavor-wise.

As a big fan of all things Zendikar, I will have to have this in my planar deck.

If only I could afford to get a copy of Tazeem as well

That was my first thought upon seeing this card, too. The only reason I can think is Brainspoil , but even then, it makes more sense to bleed the 'hate unenchanted creatures' into Green/White than to bleed 'loves enchantments' into Red/Black... the two colors who don't interact with them at all.

For such a flavor-driven set, this is a huge flavor letdown. ):

I'm not saying that I like the flavor for this, but I don't understand the feeling toward why Red doesn't love Enchantments? I mean Red has very little Enchantment Removal, so they kinda do like Enchantments, at least ones that help them. So I sorta understand why a Red/Black area (its Red/Black and not just red right I can't remember 100%), helps Enchantments.

But if you wouldn't want Akoum to help Enchantments, what should it have done instead based on what we know about the area?

Red neither loves nor hates enchantments. It's indifferent towards them. They can't be smashed, so they're boring.

At least, that's the flavor for why it can't destroy them.

LOL, I do like that logic. but I still see them as favoring them a little more because of fire breathing and fury inducing type enchanments.
