Todays AVR card to rate is...

Champion of Lambholt

 Spoiler: Show

5.0
: I will always play this card. Period.
4.5
: I will almost always play this card, regardless of what else I get.
4.0
: I will strongly consider playing this as the only card of its color.
3.5
: I feel a strong pull into this card’s color.
3.0
: This card makes me want to play this color. (Given that I’m playing that color, I will play this card 100% of the time.)
2.5
: Several cards of this power level start to pull me into this color. If playing that color, I essentially always play these. (Given that I’m playing that color, I will play this card 90% of the time.)
2.0
: If I’m playing this color, I usually play these. (70%)
1.5
: This card will make the cut into the main deck about half the times I play this color. (50%)
1.0
: I feel bad when this card is in my main deck. (30%)
0.5
: There are situations where I might sideboard this into my deck, but I’ll never start it. (10%)
0.0
: I will never put this card into my deck (main deck or after sideboarding). (0%).

I misread this card at first.  I thought it only included itself in the can't be blocked area.  And even then the card was good.  Knowing that all of your creatures get the bonus is awesome.

This is a high pick.

3.5-4

3.5. Board stalls just turn into "we both play creatures until you die". That's sweet.

I have to say, I can't think of a single common or uncommon I would pick over this, which basically makes it a 5 in my opinion.

I think the high color commitment and initial vulnerability of this card keep it from being a true 4.5 or 5.0, but I don't see any reason why it can't be a 4.0.

3.5 -- again, color commitment bars it from better ranks.

I really think there should be an alternate scale for the top 3 values for draft, and the current scale for sealed. In my top end for draft, 5.0 means a first pick pack 3 regardless of what else you drafted, 4.5 means a top pick pack 2 regardless of what you drafted pack 1, and a 4.0 means first pick pack 1.

Doesn't this deserve at least a 4.0 in my alternate rating system?

3.5 on technicality, but I'm first picking this almost every time. If it were any other color then I would probably play it as a splash in any green-based deck relying on green's mana fixing to make it playable. For example, tonight at FNM I played a GU deck that splashed for Banishing Stroke and Cathars' Crusade . I never held Cathars' Crusade in my hand without being able to cast it thanks to multiple Abundant Growth s and a Borderland Ranger .

A 3.5 for me.  It's really dang good, but having double green in the cost makes it a bit worse, since this is far better on turn 3 than on, say, turn 6.  It's still really powerful and easily wins the game just by having you play creatures.  Oh no, how terrible.

If unanswered it wins games. Plus there are all sorts of rediculous synergies that go with it in the set.

That said it can be dealt with by all the removal in the set if you're tapping out turn 3 and has a double green cost which is why I like it as a 4.0.
