When Phyrexian Metamorph copies a creature does it keep its CMC or does it use the CMC from the copied creature?

For example, If i play a Phyrexian Metamorph and copy a Geralf's Messenger , then use Birthing Pod to sacrifice the Phyrexian Metamorph . Can I then search my library for a card with 5 CMC (e.g. Vorapede )?

Thanks

The mana cost(and thus both the color identity and converted mana cost) is part of the copiable characteristics.  So if your Metamorph is copying Geralf's Messenger, it has a CMC of 3.

The other part of the equation.

The effect of Birthing Pod is looking at the creature that was sacrificed as it last existed on the battlefield, not how it appears in the graveyard (or wherever else it might end up) and at that point the Metamorph was under its own copy effect and looking like Messenger so its CMC at the time was 3.
