Anyone see the Jund zombies list for the Hartford 5k? What a joke. No respect for the meta at all. How can we improve this? Also, how to prove to people that lotleth troll is garbage for Jund hyper aggro??

I don't know if you'll ever really be able to convince people that Lotleth is bad for pure aggro strategies as long as control-oriented builds are frequent in the meta. It's good against that matchup since you can make it big, regenerate it, and it tramples to reduce the issue with chump blockers if they throw out Lingering Souls tokens.

Could you sideboard it? Yeah, probably. There isn't a lot of dudes on the general zombies lists that I would want to pitch to Lotleth, the notable exception being Gravecrawler. That's not to mention the very valid point you brought up about not wanting to hold the crawler in your hand on turn one just to have it to pitch to Lotleth on turn two.

I figure Lotleth as more of a sideboard against control kind of creature. If you were running a deck that used things like Slitherhead and Ghoulcaller's Chant to pitch the same guys again and again and Scavenge them after then you can't go wrong with Lotleth.

Turn 1: Land.
Turn 2: Land, Troll.
Turn 3: Pitch two Slitherheads, Ghoulcaller's Chant, pitch two Slitherheads, Scavenge the same two Slitherheads, swing with 8/7 Trample regenerator.

That's a pretty nasty threat to have on the board at turn 3, but it takes a level of dedication to that theme.

Good call on the sb for troll. I should have stated that in my post. I'm running 3 now, but may cut to 2. I have not seen much control or heard it talked about much at my local store, but I don't want to be caught with my pants down.

If you build around him like you proposed, I would want to def go midrange like that.

If I wasn't playing zombies, id be playing Jund tap out control. Lots of great weapons

Bumping for the benefit of players who are new to B/r aggro.

One could justify adding blue back in once Gatecrash goes live and Watery Grave can pump out Diregraf Ghoul, maybe a couple Grimgrin on the top end for repeatable Gravecrawler saccing.

I'm new to this thread, I'm currently testing a BG version of the zombie deck, and I have been play testing Demonlord of Ashmouth to top out the curve I must say he has not let me down yet. Much like Disciple he sacs a creature setting off Artist, but with a 5/4 body with evasion he continues to add pressure.

Thoughts?

desecration demon is better for the slot because he doesn't require you sacrifice anything once he enters the battlefield, demonlord of ashmouth seems too unstable, plus desecration demon is bigger and forces the enemy to sacrifice their creatures which is better than sacing your creatures.

I'm telling you: red. Aristocrat is an instant-speed sac outlet that has haste, and flies just as high as any sort of demon. Desecration Demon could probably be good in a control deck with a lot of sweepers/crowd control.

Hmm. I have considered Desecration Demon but the truth is as soon as he hits the field he gets a target painted on his back. Resiliency is this deck's ultimate weapon. If I wasn't so stuck on keeping it more black than green it would have Strangleroot Giest s and possibly a Vorapede or two. Brian Kibler's GB list is arguably more efficient anyway.

GB aggro could be fun, but it'd have to be green-based so you can run Arbor Elf to untap your Overgrown Tomb. Desecration Demon still probably wouldn't be very good in it, though.
