If I have copies of Bone Splinters  from Shards of Alara can i use them in Standard tournaments (mainly thinking about the Avacyn restored Game Day)? My guess is you can but as I've never been to any tournaments I'm not sure. Thanks

Yes, if a card is legal in a given format you can use any printing of said card in the format. What matters is the english name, not what set its from.

Yep, you can use any white or black bordered version of a card in a tournament as long as that card is standard legal.
… and then, the squirrels came.
