I'd still take Bite over Triumph. It's removal that we control versus removal where we hope we're not against green. Necrobite, Pact, Dead, Triumph.

Choice is between Nearheath, Evernight, and Executioner here. All three of these cards are good at making the game go a little long. I don't think we're really positioned to take good advantage of a second nearheath, though, which leaves the black cards. Of them, we pulled an executioner 7th pick last pack and already have two of them to one evernight. Take the evernight and hope executioner comes around.

I'm down with the Shade here. The undying plays into our growing death theme.

I would say this is a choice between the Pilgrim and the Shade. I have to say, I think Pilgrim is one of the best two drops in the format and although we already have one I would pick a second one here over the Shade. Nearheath Pilgrim .

I agree the pick is between the Pilgrim and the Shade, and it is a very tough call between the two of them. Right now I am leaning towards the Pilgrim, but I reserve the right to repick if anyone presents a compelling argument for the shade.

In looking at our cards right now, we have at least 14 or 15 black cards that we're going to want to play (I've excluded both Grave Exchange s and a couple other cards from this count, so probably more). The number of swamps that we're starting is going to have a big impact on how good the Evernight Shade is for us. The question then becomes, how much do we want to play our Seraph of Dawn and Riders of Gavony . Is Avacyn, Angel of Hope still in consideration? If we're going to be playing those cards then I'll change my vote to the Nearheath Pilgrim . Being a two-drop and potentially getting us some life to lengthen the game out for our late game would be very good. If, on the other hand, we plan to play almost mono black and maybe splashing for the Tandem Lookout or a couple of our white cards then I'd stick with the Evernight Shade . It's a shame that we didn't get the earlier Homicidal Seclusion (Not being bitter here, honest). That would have changed the structure of this deck drastically, in what I think would have been a good way.

I was thinking basically what Torpesh said, if we are playing ~10 swamps then Shade gets the vote. The Pilgrim is a good two drop though which are very scarce in the format and gives us more fodder for our Driver to bring back. It seems fairly likely that we could drop most of the white and go almost monoblock with a splash at this point, but for now I will say Pilgrim.
Changed my mind.
