Hey all. Are there any rules regarding prize support? Also, is a TO required to give a prize breakdown before an event starts? (or can he wait to see who wins before revealing (/deciding) how the prize pool is being divided?) Is a store supposed to have a policy, or can they make it up on the fly? Cheers ~ Tim

Not bad. But what happens flavor wise when one kamahl kills the other one?
Zis iz a sign uf deep psychological troma, buried in zer subconscious mind. By keelink himzelf, Kamahl iz physically expressink hiz feelinks uf self-disgust ova hiz desire for hiz muzzer. [/GermanPsychologistVoice]
That makes no sense to me.
If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed?

Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch . YAY COLOR IDENTITY
Is algebra really that difficult?
Survey says yes.
You want to make a milky drink. You squeeze a cow.
I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

Ok, as for as prize support goes it's up to the store. Sometimes for some events wizards will suggest what prize support the store should give for that event, but in the end it's the store that sets the prize support.
Now as to the second part of your question, as far as I know (and I'm less sure on this one), stores should state their prize support after the event start when they know how many are participating. That way no one can claim in the end that the store manipulated prize support to their advantage if it was done at the end of the tournament.

There is at least one caveat to this - prereleases typically have an amount of product provided by WotC free of charge that MUST be distributed as part of the prize pool. In the case of Avacyn Restored, this was 2 booster packs per entry.
