You would be able to simply flicker out a paired soulbond creature and then using its own soulbond ability, pair with the new non-soulbonder, correct? Changing the pairings while the other triggers are on the stack won't help, but if you're Cloudshift ing, that begs the question as to why you didn't just cloudshift the guy you wanted to pair with the new creature anyway.
Why didn't you do that? Because it's much harder and more time-consuming to construct examples if I have to force myself to care about whether or not my example players are acting rationally. Given the incredible variety of cards available in Magic, it's almost always possible to construct a scenario where performing whatever you want the players to do is the correct (or at least a reasonable) strategic course of action. However, constructing such a scenario takes time and effort, and generally requires the use of a lot of extraneous cards that distract from the core question the example is trying to illustrate. Simply showing the example without getting into the exact details of why a player might want to do that saves time and keeps the actual matter at hand front and center.
For example, the question " Nightfall Predator targets itself with its ability. How much damage does it deal?" is a lot clearer than "I control Nightfall Predator enchanted with Druid's Call and no other creatures; my opponent controls no creatures and casts Doom Blade targeting the Predator. In response, I activate the Predator targeting itself. How many tokens do I get?".
Sure, sorry, I was just making sure that I wasn't misunderstanding a soulbond rule.

Thats damn tricksy. Far too tricksy IMO. I had to read that twice myself to see why it worked, and I had to read the previous post 3 times to see why that wouldnt work. I dont think anyone at my FLGS would believe me if I told them it worked like this.
Well, I sure did this with Angel's Tomb and soulbond creatures. Of course, I had no idea why it worked, but no one was curious as to whether it should work or not that I played against.

Did you do it right (i.e. legally - with it working because you already controlled another unpaired creature when the Soulbond creature entered the battlefield and animated the Tomb), or did you do it wrong (illegally - with it not working since you didnt already control another unpaired creature when the Soulbond creature entered the battlefield and animated the Tomb)? Or did you do it both ways?

That makes no sense to me.
If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed?

Yup, just like you can have Birds of paradise in a mono green deck but not Noble Hierarch . YAY COLOR IDENTITY
Is algebra really that difficult?
Survey says yes.

I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

Wouldn't you like to know? I actually don't recall each time it happened. But couldn't I cast a Soulbond creature, have Angel's Tomb trigger put on top of the stack, and when that resolves, Soulbond triggers as my Soulbond creature resolves? ... actually, that doesn't even sound right. That is wrong. Angel's Tomb only cares if a creature enters the battlefield; it doesn't care when you cast a creature. Got that wrong.

Yeah, there's no problem pairing a soulbonder with Halcyon Glaze because it triggers on casting. But the Tomb triggers at the same time as the soulbond ability.

So if soulbond and Angel's Tomb trigger at the same time, I can put them in any order I choose, right?

Only if both abilities actually trigger, and Soulbond won't do that if your only other "creature" is the soon-to-be-awakened Angel's Tomb (it fails the intervening if).

But Soulbond will onhly trigger if you actually control any other unpaired Creatures. A not-yet-animated Angel's Tomb does not count.
