ETB effects triggers right after the creature hits play. I'll use Accursed Centaur as an example:
10/4/2004 If Accursed Centaur is the only creature on the battlefield, you must sacrifice it.

The different is that Clone is a static ability, so it doesn't use the stack. Therefore, it happens during the transition from spell to creature. Since when indicates that its a triggered ability, the trigger will happen when it condition is satisfied. In this case, it's entering the battlefield. As there isn't some sort of limbo between the stack and the battlefield, the trigger will happen once the creature has hit play.

I like griffins!  D:

I'd give it flash and that's all I'd change.  I like your Craterhoof Behemoth idea though.

Rather than the effect being permanent, I'd rather see Craterhoof Behemoth grant your other creatures haste as well.  In its current form, if it hits the table your opponent should be dead by the end of turn anyways.

Why would your other creatures need haste? You just cast an 8 mana spell. If you can cast other creatures, your probably something wrong.

There are other ways to get it onto the table than casting it.

True, but those are typically too expensive to cast other creatures at the same time. I see your point, though.

Bonfire of the Damned : Change rarity to Rare.
Griselbrand : Match power and toughness with Avacyn.
Malignus : Change rarity to Rare.
Misthollow Griffin : Change name and type to Sphinx. Change rarity to Rare.
Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded : Change the '+1' ability to "Discard a card, then draw a card." Because of that, change cost to .

So many Johnnies got excited about Misthollow Griffin I don't think it's that big of a problem personally. There's a massive dichotomy between people saying they don't want powerful mythics and people complaining about mythics that aren't powerful enough. Usually the same people.

misthollow griffin is perfectly fine as is, as is craterhoof behemoth. you don't need a lasting effect on an 8 mana dude when that dude pretty much ends the game when it drops anyway.

Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded: 2nd ability    -1: ~ deals 1 damage to target creature and 1 damage to you.
Griselbrand   ~ gets undying until end of turn.
Misthollow Griffin: something to cantrip
