ok i was lookin at making a super douchey commander deck with heartless hidetsugu as my general. i know that putting my life at an odd number then blasting away with hidetsugu and some damage doubler (ie furnance of rath gratuitious violence w/e) will equal a win for u but im a lil fuzzy on wut happens when u throw a lifelink giving equipment like loxodon warhammer and ur life is even. can someone clarify this interaction for me?

He will deal to each player damage equal to that player's health. Each player damaged this way (including you) loses 1 life for each damage dealt to him. Simultaneously, you gain 1 life for each damage dealt. At the very least, your life total will remain unchanged, but most likely you'll gain a good chunk of life. Next, the ability finishes resolving, and the game checks if anyone needs to die. Your opponents are probably dead, but you are probably not.

Note that this is only because it has lifelink instead of the triggered ability on the original printing of the card. With the Mirrodin version, you would instead both lose at the same time due to state-based effects before the triggered ability of life gain resolved.

Mirrodin's version is past and gone: never mention it again!

«Dystocracy : A system of government in which corrupt leadership colludes with dishonest bankers and greedy elites in order to ensure that productive members of society –people who actually do useful work- bear the greatest share of taxes while gaining the least benefit possible.»

Sounds familiar?
