If a card has been printed in a standard legal set, then you can use any version of that card. Since basic lands have been printed in the latest standard, then you can use basic land from any set.

Thanks guys! This should also save me some money since now I don't have to buy M12/latest set versions specifically, I can just see if I have the equivalent version (for example if there's an M12 lightning bolt, I can use my M11 lightning bolt, right?)

fun fact: basic lands are the only cards that are legal from the Unsets  and yes, you can use any printing of a card, as long as it has a black or white border (not silver or gold) and has a version of it printed in a legal set. so for example you can use a Trinket Mage from original Mirrodin or from Scars of Mirrodin
