Dumb thread, but no one else seems to have made it yet, and I'm curious. What's yer top 3 (or however many you want to list, I don't care) favorite cards this set?

Mine:
1) Descendant's Path . I'm usually not one for tribal, but this peaks my interest. I mean, you're basically getting something for nothing! Which makes me want to try building around it.
2) Zealous Conscripts . Just for being a beautifully elegant versatile thing. Obviously great for a finisher, which is the most obvious, but it's the kind of red card I'd be happy to take with me into some slower style of play, too.
3) Lone Revenant . Not as sure I can explain this one, but it makes me want to try a kind of deck I'm normally adverse to playing. That interests me.

mine are:

1. Ghostly Flicker Im a big fan of all the CIBF effects so I think this will be a rockstar. Especially while my Venser deck is still legal.

2. Devastion Tide Playing control, this is such a jerk card to play, thats why i love it!

3. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage so lovely. I think she is going to be boooooooooooooooooooooooooooomb!

I hope the slower meta will let me play the way I enjoy, devler can burn in hell! Smile

1. Wolfir Silverheart . I love green. He is very green.
2. Wolfir Avenger . I still love green. More to the point, I like when green lets me do more interesting things than "play a large creature and turn it sideways."
3. Entreat the Angels . Crazy card. Would love to open one.

1) Restoration Angel   -  So far this is the only card I have preordered a playset of.  I really want to try abusive shenanigans both in control and at the top of the curve in a Naya aggro build.  Plus I love the artwork.

2) Desolate Lighthouse   -  Going to have to break out my Grixis control deck again post rotation.  So many looting effects!

3) Probably a tie between Cavern of Souls and Sigarda, Host of Herons   -  I can certainly see putting at least 2 caverns into a wolfrun deck.  It's also insane in Humans since many of those lists can run ~30 creatures all of the same type.  Sigarda I plan to utilize possibly as a 2-of in a midrangey Hexproof style deck.  Plus she's GSZ tutorable, which makes me happy.

All in all this set is rather unimpressive in terms of power and sparking creative ideas.  DKA was pretty tame power-wise (on the whole anyway, obviously there are a few standouts ), but had a bunch of fun cards that either aided in or created archetypes.  However there are certainly a few cards, the above named especially, that I'll want.

1. Bruna, Light of Alabaster - This card will fit perfectly into my Geist of Saint Traft commander deck. I will be trying to get a foil.

2. Restoration Angel - I can't wait to try this out in my Venser deck.  I will also be trying to pick up a set of promos of this one.

3. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage - The five drop planeswalker spot in my deck is already pretty full, but I really want to try her with Gideon Jura .

Honorable mentions go to, Avacyn, Angel of Hope , Gisela, Blade of Goldnight , and Cavern of Souls .

Ghostly Flicker : I get to reactivate two of my creatures ETB ability for 3 mana? And it's a common? Count me in.

Cloudshift : I get to reactivate one of my creatures ETB ability for 1 mana? And it's a common? This.

Vexing Devil : I don't need a description here. 1 cost for a permanent 4 power hitter, or 1 cost for 4 damage.
You are Red/Blue!

Copies of Tobias Andrion so far:
Twenty Three!!

I'm Johnny/Spike.  I want to win, but I want to win with fun and awesome deck ideas and/or great card combos.

Constructed is for losers!  Limited is where its at

With that out there, these are my top picks for limited commons / uncommons (because thats all that matters 90% of the time):

1. Banishing Stroke .  Miracles will be super good / annoying in limited, and this is one of the best instant speed ones in what is probably the most solid color.  Top decking this will never be bad and open the door to lucky loots / draws during opponents turns.

2. Vanishment .  Another miracle with a very acceptable non-miracle cost for its effect.  More versitile than griptide, and a way to get rid of anything permanently with any instant mill effects.

3. Blessings of Nature .  Travel Preps was awesome, and this is almost as efficient and if you do get lucky with miracle turn 2-3, thats just game right there in 90% of cases.

I guess miracles are good.

Honorable mention for Blood Artist which is basically Falkenrath Noble , except earlier, which was my only gripe about the noble.  This thing will be an absolute beating in this removal light format. Stock up on your -1-1 effects

Demonic Taskmaster , Wolfir Avenger , Fettergeist and Emancipation Angel are also worth mentioning.  All super efficient 3 drops with relatively minor drawbacks.

I'm currently in Timmy mode, so I'd say Blossom , Entreat the Angels and Restoration Angel .  When I start getting my paws on these cards Johnny mode and Spike mode will kick in.  But for now I'm going to go ahead and say those 3.

#3 Divine Deflection - I just feel like this card could make a good deck. Maybe W/G with fog, or W/U with counters, or W/R for quick damage... I don't know yet, but I know I'll probably try a deck with this card at AVR Game Day.

#2 Tamiyo, the Moon Sage - I really feel like she could be a good addition to my Spirit Delver deck, but I don't know yet, since she's at 5 mana my deck has a pretty low mana curve, but we'll see with time and practice if she good enough for a slot or two. But she sure looks like a very nice card I'd want to build a deck around.

#1 Righteous Blow  & Temporal Mastery - Now, number one was simply too hard to select. Righteous Blow simply makes a very fine addition to white removal, its a much better Rebuke , but Temporal Mastery makes a ridiculously good card to add in my Spirit Delver deck. So, I took two cards as my number one, because I feel they're both very good.

There's many other cards I wanted to choose, such as Commander's Authority or Lone Revenant , but these cards are simply too overcosted in my opinion. Their effect are awesome, but I just don't feel they're worth the mana used. But hey, it doesn't matter, there's plenty good cards in AVR to have fun with.

Mmm, personally I'm more of a Buttercup man myself. Bubbles seems neat, but I prefer the way Sovereigns of Lost Alara did the effect. *shrug*
