But that's a lengthy series of a great many acts, each of which depends upon the other acts to construct the context 'bad'. Should we not pick the 'worst' and see if that's inherently good/evil instead?
Alt.: 'morally neutral' can be bent into whatever one'd like for the argument to come out anyone's way.

The first contextualization I can think of involves terrorists with nukes on a moonbase and a very specific and odd list of demands.
The second one I thought of is that the person was actually not a moral agent, and was truly incapable of understanding the consequences of his actions (so, very, very, insane).

I'm doing ok Very tired, very busy making mudbricks, trying to put together a coherent argument about Homestuck (it's VERY VERY DIFFICULT) and trying to juggle an increasingly byzantine love life. But this is stuff I love, so it's cool. Welcome to the forum, Hannas! Hope you stick around On the subject of morality, has anyone here read LessWrong's Sequences? As in, the theoretical foundation for Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality? I'm going through them right now and finding that in some areas I'm definitely ahead of the curve as a rationalist, and in other areas I'm woefully unprepared (mostly in the field of mathematics and probability, actually).

I've read the part on Bayesian statistics twice because I know some people use it here and it helped me understand their writing better. I opened the epistemology 101 somewhere in an unused tab, but from glancing over it I'm not sure if its all that intuitive for me. I'll stick to the academic lectures for that. For the rest, not really, no :/. I must say that while I find the fiction highly amusing, I'm skeptical at the blog's mindframe.

- For those among you who are lifelong pokemon fans, especially those of you who have played Black/White (or at least those of you who know the deal behind team plasma); I just recently found out about a hilariously sad (or saddeningly hilarious, depending on your view) event involving our favorite little critters. I warn you, this may cause some heated debate. www.forbes.com/sites/davidewalt/2012/10/...
So, PETA is really Team Plasma in disguise? That...actually explains quite a bit. And now I can't shake the image of Team Plasma running around imitating PETA's naked celeberity campaigns. Just picture it, Ghestis and the Seven Sages leading some of the female grunts (who are all red heads I noticed. Ghestis isn't one for being subtle, I suppose) around by chain leads connected to leather collars and that's it. I always knew Pokemon should be an M rated game...

AAAAHHHHH MY EYES
To someone with a religious perspective, blasphemy against a supremem being is always evil. Other than that, I am surprised that I cannot think of an act that, devoid of circumstances, is always evil. The things that society condems above all others are perfectly acceptable in other situations (murder vs justifiable homicide, rape vs sex, theft vs borrowing, bribery vs paying for a letimate service)

So you're saying that morality does not exist at all outside of the realm of religion? That pretty much agrees with the post that started this whole discussion.

I'm not saying that at all, I'm just pointing out that the context of the act does actually matter, which is counterintuive to most people. We like to think that something that we do can be inherently good or bad.
