run 24.  Drop the Withstand, Luminous Wakes, and a Terashi's grasp for the extra land.

I can see why the withstand and luminous wakes, but why the grasp? if I remove those I wont have any enchantment or artifact destruction at all. the friends I play with typically run a lot of pacifisms and glorious anthems, I would hate to have nothing against those.

That's why I said only one grasp, thought perhaps I wasn't clear.  Leaves you with two grasps and the Pentarch to deal with troublesome enchantments

So, to summarize, you need to clear 4 slots for land.  I'd do it with
-1 Withstand
-2 Luminous Wake
-1 Terashi's Grasp.

If you're really worried about the enchantments though, you could take out the Otherworldly Journey instead, though it's nice for resetting order/pentarch or re-triggering Archon.

I may be really old school, but back in the days wasn't 40/20 the approximate ratio for a 60 cards deck?

So counting your 42, and some moderate/high cost card I think Tevish_Szat suggestion of 24 is right.
My decks, mostly casuals, but some I use online with some small changes:

oh I see, sorry I misunderstood. and yeah what your saying makes sense, ill go ahead and do those changes. I can definately live with just 2 grasps I think.

That sounds about right, ill probably go ahead and try 24, if I feel its too much ill bring it down to 23 I suppose, but 24 sounds good.

What do you guys think about me removing Pentarch Paladin ? Its a great card but perhaps it doesnt fit right in THIS deck? I have too many 5 drops it looks like but i could be wrong.

I'll guess 22 lands because the average mana cost is about 2.9.  I've done 20 pretty easily in low mana cost decks but it's better to err on the high side.  If you have more than 60 cards in the deck then you need more land of course.  24 is the right number in general though for most decks.

I wouldn't worry if you end up with a 61 or 62 card deck.  Time spent agonizing on what to remove for that 1.5% increase in reliability per card could be better spent.  Or if you remove the wrong card then you could make things worse.  Or sometimes there may simply be no good card to remove because going from 4 to 3 (-25%) or 3 to 2 (-33%) is way too big of a jump for every single card.

aye, Ive never had a deck thats been exactly 60 cards, I almost always go a bit over. I figured I would try to keep this one at 60 but I doubt I can do that haha, we'll see

Ok I updated the original post, any other help would be appreciated. Can anyone that has played with a Pentarch Paladin tell me how it is? Debating weather I should keep it in or not. How often do you use its effect, if any? It seems like it would be removed by the opponent right as it hits the board lol
