"This deck should play well against anything in the current Standard format."
What are you smoking?

Huh. Tandem Guy doesn't say "combat damage"
I noticed that as well. My gut reaction was to plan on pairing it with a pinger of some kind, or maybe grim lavamancer.

So mono blue with 4 mana leaks and 3 vapor snares can compete in standard now?
I agree, wtf are you smoking JVL?
And he didn't even bother to playtest this one at all.
Last week he goes overboard and gives us 8000 games with a deck.
This week he gives us no games.
Great consistency! /sarcasm
Every once in a while JVL has some awesome deck ideas, but every week there just seems to be a level of laziness to his articles or card usage that are starting to pile up for me. (Ponder in a modern deck, using overpriced cards, etc)
This week's article just felt like a lazy attempt at showing us a preview card.

it is preveiw week! what did you expect. he has to preview a card then buld a deck for a format that doesn't exist yet.... on a budget. unfortunatly it doesn't work very well.

I swear nobody knows how preview weeks 1 & 2 work any more... or hopefully Avacyn Restored is drawing a bunch of new players for some reason.
Anyway, it's a preview article, so it's all bells and whistles-- apart from his usual weekly assignment. Jacob actually listened last week on the structure of the column, so I have renewed faith he's on track.

I expect him to playtest his decks and show us how they fare in matchups? Proxy the card?
I don't think that is too high of an expectation.
Hopefully Senyuno is right and he is on track, but this article still seemed lazy to me.
