Is it me the only one that was really excited about super Primeval Titan?
Flag unerasablesin April 9, 2012 9:35 PM PDT
I had a moment of extreme hope that it would be!  But i figured they wouldn't do that, cause it would be way too strong.  It was an unexpected creature, which was nice; and the ability is plenty awesome!

I facepalmed when I saw that choice.

Dear Mr. Styborski,

Not everyone's thoughts are shouting.

Thank you,
Zindaras

Avacyn Restored has not impressed me so far and, quite frankly, has pretty much been overshadowed by Return to Ravnica as far as excitement is concerned.

Melancholy!

Am I the only one who thinks this card fails extremely at flavor?
I mean... what does making lakes has to do with... I mean... damn...

This just smells like a really, really generic, boring fatty.

Thrulls from Endrek are 1/1, not 0/1.

This card seems pretty good in the same deck as the other preview.
Flag PhyrexianRogue April 10, 2012 6:10 AM PDT
I know it has nothing to do with the card, but the 'what do you think poll' really annoys me by lacking any negative option.
Flag Qmark April 10, 2012 7:42 AM PDT
When exactly did "why haven't you won yet?" become a design theme?
As much as the talking heads worry over games ending too quickly (before turn four), there seems to be a hell of a lot of effort put into making damn sure games don't go too long (around turn eleven).

This. The other preview card is fairly win more (every deck I attempt to build around it would be just as happy having a creature in that slot) and this isan overcosted Overrun+creature, but they make a great Timmy combo that has the potential to make it into a Tier 2 deck.

I also think there was a creative disconnect here. I love the flavor of "being so big and so crater-hooved that its footsteps form new lakes," but what does that have to do with being a measley 5/5 that casts Overrun when it comes into play?

Better abilities to match this flavor:
1. When Craterhoof Behemoth attacks, creatures without flying cannot block. (Normally a red ability, but flavorfully it fits with a beast so big that it causes earthquakes that knock people off their feet.)
2. When Craterhoof Behemoth attacks, exile up to two target lands. At the start of your next turn, return those lands to the battlefield under their owners' control, tapped. Those lands are now Islands. ("Its footsteps of today are the lakes of tomorrow" -- get it?!)

Well, I am not quite as underwhelmed as you guys.  I actually think it would make a great finisher for a non-white Pod deck.  (If you are playing white, it is strictly worse than Elesh Norn)
Flag TheCable April 10, 2012 11:52 AM PDT

It's a cool card, but PLEASE, can you stop hyping up cards like this superficially? 8 mana cards are supposed to just win the game most of the time on its own and you're suggesting "comboing" it off with AVENGER OF ZENDIKAR? Like, that is not how this game works yet you try to sell it that way to hype it up for newbs.. It's unfair.

I've decided this set has two problems.

1: terribly just inexcusable excuse for a story (all in all, if there had been even one book encompassing al of Innistrad's storyline I wouldn't be making this comment.)

2:Temporal mastery (although, it's really only half of a problem 'cause no one really knows if it will be game breaking or just flashy yet average)

The flavor of behemoth is not an issue because (for those of you who were so apalled by the bad story yesterday that you merely skimmed over it or even skipped t all together) it was mentioned in the terrible story that Avacyn's miraculous reappearance caused many new creatures to come out of hiding and roam free for the first time in who knows how long. That could still be a major story issue though.
