Doom Blades and Tragic Slips? One kills Ptit, the other kills Inkmoth?
Just let me dream that I won't have to play RUG ramp again
Congratulations, you just spent 2 cards to their 1. Except you didn't even deal with their 1. Now every solemn simulacrum, every GSZ for any amount, every huntmaster, ever wolf token, every beast token, every thrun, and every inkmoth is a fireball to the face .
I said "let me live my dream" not "prove what you've been afraid of ever since you saw Cavern of Souls a week and a half ago."
And Mirror Owl, I think it might be half-okay once SoM rotates, but that's a long ways away. BSZ is just so much better. Or maybe if tokens and humans were played a lot more.

Meh, I dunno, the format will have to slow down a LOT for it to be worth beans. I still think UB won't be viable for control without leaning heavily on white. So here's hoping Day sticks around..
Welcome to 2012. Blue has the most efficient creatures, black has the all-in monocolored aggro deck, the most controlling deck in the format is green-red, control decks lose to aggro in attrition wars, and counterspells aren't an answer to fatties.
Pack Rat is like Bitterblossom and Tarmogoyf had a black baby.

Killing Wave is an AWFUL control card. Unless you have either a) a ton of mana to pump into it (6+), Or b) a way to apply early pressure, then they just say "I'll take 12" and continue beating your face. It's a mediocre-to-okay card for creature-light aggro, Br Zombies maybe. Honestly I'd be very surprised if it saw more than fringe sideboard play.

I was trying to remain optimistic, but yeah, the card is bad. I really just wanted one playable zombie or black card. One. One mother ****ing good zombie.

2/1 graveyard-purifier.
It's really not even about giving niche cards to black.
It should be about giving black cards to Niche.

Woods said it best in his set review. "Graveyard hate has gotten too good to really consider running this in Standard. It is nice that this is a Zombie, so perhaps some brave Zombie player will be packing some of these in their sideboard, but I think in general you are better off with Nihil Spellbomb or Surgical Extraction for the same job."

That's one way to look at it. But it makes good mortarpod fodder if they aren't using the graveyard. It gets buffed and deals damage through Captain. And it's one more way to turn on morbid on command. And it's a creature contributing to your win condition, where spellbomb and extraction aren't. Is it an awesome card zombies should drool over? No, but it certainly seems like an option.

My reaction: "who the heck is designing black, and why can't black have nice things?"

Because Niche slept with Maro's wife.
Luckily, we have stop-having-fun guys to remind us that having anything more than 60 cards in your deck is tantamount to being a rapist and anyone considering it should be strung up by their **** .
