A reprint in Core Set could mean no plans to put out a new Bolas card, but to bring him back for story purpose in the next set.
Sorin would like a word with you. As would Ajani, Jace, Garruk and Chandra. All were reprinted in the coreset prior to recieving new cards.
I don't think there's a connection.
In Magic 2010, only white and blue actually had more than one mono-colored walker to even work with.
They kept the original five around for as long as they did for simplicity's sake more than anything.

But they put Sorin in right before a set that related heavily to his story. Thats why I seperated him out. Garruk should also get a mention since he got a brand new card before getting another new one the folowing set. A lot of people felt Garruk 2 meant no Garruk 3 in Innistrad, and we know that was wrong. What walkers they put in the core set doesn't stop them from putting those walkers in following set. As a matter of fact the only block not to feature a walker already in standard was Scars Block.
Either way we don't have enough proof one way or the other to say the Bolas here doesn't mean Bolas elsewhere.

At first I was thinking that yours were the musings of a madman, but it does make a sort of sense to it. If memory serves, one of the best answers to an opponent's turn four Jace2.0 was your own turn three Jace1.0 . R&D could easily do something similar if they were worried that a later version of a Planeswalker might be on the fringe of 'too good'.

I can't see many gold cards in the set given how rare gold cards are in cors sets. This will probably be more flavour based than a sign that multi colour cards are heavily in core.

Slave Of Bolas will probably see a reprint then as well, unless the hybrid mana thing is too "advanced" for a core set...

The real news is that muticolor cards will be in the core set for the first time.
True post count: 9,900 Thanks Wotc for not counting archived posts. If I post without capital letters than means I'm posting from my phone. For some reason it hates typing capital letters. Go_Texans on MTGO.
