I love me some duel decks, but I hate when they aren't even close to balance. I played a few games on MWS and Koth seemed totally OP, which would dissuade me from buying it. However, it wasn't nearly enough testing. Can someone clue me in on how balanced they are, based on personal experience?

I can't answer from personal experience.. but from reading the decklists, Koth is pretty much Hulk Smash! and Venser is quite tricky to play. Differences in skill level or style bias are going to make themselves plenty obvious in this matchup.

I agree with 42. It's mostly skill, style, and forethought. I played Venser in a 2 headed giant duel. A second round drop for my opponent was Plated Geopede . He started using it as a beat stick, pulled a Bloodfire Colossus later, and instead of working with my ally who had a Naya Charm , I played Preordain when I should have played Sunblast Angel after the charm. My mistake cost us the game. We had enough creatures on the field that following that combo, we could have rolled over them in two turns.

I just bought this duel pack. I have yet to play them. Hopefully they are worth it.
