So today I went to play Magic 2012 and noticed that all of my progress has been deleated. I have lost all the cards that I have unlocked, as well as all my deck keys. I have also lost all of my campgain progress (I have beated everything in th game already).

Is there anything I can do to get my progress back or did I just lose all the points that I have spent on my deck keys. Any help would be appreciated. Yes I already have tried recovering my account and have tried this on different xbox's.

This has happened to me 2 x before, but I magically got my progress back once I recovered my account. Now nothing seems to work. This is pretty ****, for I don't feel like REBUYING deck keys and trying to unlock everything again. I'd probably just boycott this game if theres nothing I can do to fix this.

Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I had a thread about the same problem for MS. If its for the xbox just phone up MS customer support, ask for points to buy the magic gold edition.

Thanks for the reply, I did see your old post but it was dated, was hoping that this got fixed. Guess not. What is the gold edition and what does it do? Can I unlock cards with it.

The gold edition is every card pack DLC and expansion. It also gives you all the keys to unlock and shiney all decks. It sounds like an easier way to get all your progress back. When i phoned MS i didnt have this option so i requested enough points to buy the DLC keys. MS cant offer points for a 3rd party product but if you explain that the expansion/dlc keys mean you can get all your progress back without any hassle on either end they should help. Be polite and be courtious, i know its frustrating to see everything get wiped, i felt pretty angry. But taking it out on the call centre staff will get you nowhere. Do point out that other people have caused a fuss and had a full refund from MS, tell them you dont want to do this, you just want your cards back.

After that its in their hands, good luck.

I have contacted them and they said that there is nothing that they can do:

Rory from Microsoft: The publishers have to take responsibility for their product instead of directing you to Xbox. That is not your fault and in no way do I mean to come across that way. I am looking into your points activity now.

Arthur: So the publisher gets the money from what I bought through XBOX Live, and they are refusing to refund customers, and instead directing us back to you guys? Has to be a way for you to contact them, because that is pretty shady business practice. lol.

Rory: Yes, the publishers get the money from the points purchased for their content. It does not go to Xbox. For this reason I cannot issue you with a refund or credit you with points. I am sorry, but you are going to have to work with the publishers to solve the problem. I have done research and this seems to have affected more than a few people. We cannot issue you with MS points  due to a product failure on their end. This has nothing to with us.

Don't worry!  This problem has been around for a little over two years.  I'm quite confident Stainless has released a patch to fix it by now.  I mean it's a game-breaking bug that has been reported repeatedly on these boards.  I'm sure they've dealt with it.

Wait, what's that?  No?  Oh.

Well I'm sure Wizards has some sort of procedure in place, maybe a well-advertised contact email or person or phone number, where they can give their customers support when the game that bears the big Wizards of the Coast logo steals your money due to a well-known coding error.  I bet people have already used that contact email and can share it with you, and the problem will be resolved ASAP, like most of them are.

Wait, what's that?  No?  Oh.  Err.

Well, I'm sure that the next DotP will solve all of these problems.  So if you wouldn't mind paying for the game a second (or third) time, and then repurchasing the deck keys for the new decks (that will be eerily similar to the old decks), I'm sure the problem won't happen again.

Wait, what's that?  Oh, then f@&k it.

To anybody else reading this i think we should point out the source of the bug.

DO NOT START MAGIC 2012 WHILE SIGNED IN, BUT NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET!!!

You can do, but if you then connect to the internet it overwrites your save file stored online, with a noobs account, ie you lose everything. If you do start magic while signed in but not logged onto the net, just quit, connect to the net and start the game again.

If one person sees this message and avoids this hassle, then its worth it.
