Can they be destroyed, returned to hand, taken control of? Are they considered to be a permananet or more like an 'untouchable badge' for the player? If the PW is killed I assume the Emblem stays in effect/in play?
I know I could probably find the answer after some rooting around but I've got 5 quid says there'll be an answer posted a lot quicker than my Miss Marple skills can find one!

The whole point of making something an Emblem (as opposed to an Enchantment Token or something), is that they arent on the battlefield, they arent permanents, they cannot be removed in any way (except by restarting a game, or moving on to the next game). Emblems go in the Command Zone.
If they spelled the ability out on the card in full then it would not be allowed in a mono-black Commander deck, but because they used a keyword to save space it is allowed?
You want to make a milky drink. You squeeze a cow.
I love this description. Like the cows are sponges filled with milk. I can see it all Nick Parks claymation-style with the cow's eyes bugging out momentarily as a giant farmer squeezes it like a squeaky dog toy, and milk shoots out of it.

Emblems exist in the Command zone. They are not permanents and no card printed so far interacts with them in any way. There is no way to get rid of emblems once created. Yes, they stay if the planeswalker dies.
Emblems are never on the stack, they are directly created in the command zone. But the abilities that create them use the stack and can be responded to.

"Simple questions" usually need rather complex answers, while complex questions often come down to no more than a simple "yes" or "no".
