After having been (albeit) lightly viewing some of the decks bouncing around Modern right now, I've been searching through some of the previously powerful decks which are still legal under the current Banned/Restricted list. One which I particularly noted is Windbrisk Heights . While the card has made some major showings in the past, it has been more or less dormant in Modern from what I can tell. My question is this: why hasn't there been more decks playing it? There is a significantly large access to not only targets for Heights, but also creatures to activate it quickly. Targets: Karn : this card has been making quite a large splash in Modern right now. With all of the Urzatron lands running amuck, running him as a four-of in a deck is not completely out of the question. In a deck with Heights, it might not be out of the question to restart the game after exiling one of your own massive creatures played through a second Heights. El dra zi : the ever-present Eldrazi creatures make easy targets for Heights. This is classic example of something for literally nothing. ...the list is easy to continue, but these are likely the most important ones. Instigators: Memnite Ornithopter Lingering Souls Midnight Haunting Spectral Procession Signal Pest Arcbound Worker Court Homunculus Hex Parasite ...and so on. This, including the amount of acceleration you can generate by playing with Mox Opal , and it always helps to play more Affinity . Since this is Modern, you might also throw in Vesuva to increase your chances of nailing large cards in the first few turns. Potential deck idea, or just another fruitless scheme? Seems to me there's a good probability something like this might be popping up soon.

With very limited digging (No top, Jace, and no brainstorm) getting something that is a game swinger is a MUST in just 4 cards. It seems a little random against dredge, afinity, and zoo.
I am not saying it wont work, I am saying it is something that would need tweaking and you would have to do the lionshare of the work since it is not a 'netdek' with other people tweaking and trying stuff.

It's a good card for sure, but it looks to me like you would just have to find a deck where it fits well, rather than try to build specifically around that card. This should never be your primary way to cast something, it's more of a support thing.

Indeed. With the other hideaways like Spinerock Knoll , you had to get your moneys worth out of it because the requirement was just so rare to actually hit. With Windbrisk Heights, attacking with three creatures is nothing. Hell, you can put whatever you feel like under Windbrisk Heights, be it small or large, and still do good. Windbrisk Heights is straight up card advantage. Not a trick to get some big CC card into play. The only restriction is if you think you'll have enough creatures to float it and if you're ok with a CIPT land.

WH is amazeballz! It sees play regularly in Tokens, and often in W/x creature based decks, I have even seen it in Death and Taxes. I only own 3, but they have paid for themselves many times over. It is not a build around card, rather it is a tool that should be at least considered for any deck running white- much like Thoughtseize should be considered for any deck that runs black.

Soul Sisters uses it and that deck is very good.
So when UR Delver came out to win a GP, did Christian Calcano email/call you and thank you personally, or was there just a mutual understanding?
Legitimately laughed at this...haha
No kidding. +1 internets for a hidden gem in the standard deck help.
