I went to my local card shop today to get some commons and uncommons (M12) for a deck I'm making, the first card I looked at was Negate blackborder.com says the card is worth 9 cents, they were selling them for 50 cents! The more I looked around, the more I noticed all the cards are like that. Is this normal or is this shop going a bit overboard?

Selling commons is often a waste of a card shop's shelf space. I don't know why they'd charge half a buck for a dime's worth of card. But the shop isn't obliged to honor any online retailer's prices.

I dont know about all of them but some of the online shops have very little overhead so it doesnt cost as much to run the bussiness. On the other hand your local shop has to pay employees, utilities, cost of the building, insurance, and I am sure plenty of other costs.
Kick in the extra 41 cents and support your local game shop I say.

They're counting on the fact that some people would pay the extra 41 cents for convenience; or they're counting on the fact that some people have to make minor tweaks or flat out build their decks right before an event there.
I have found the secret of posting sigs! Kablooie's symbol Palette:

Shop card prices are subject to local metagames as well. Perhaps Negate is a hoser for the deck(s) some of the top local players are running?
My forum good deeds. Fortunately, left unpunished: Spoiler:

Forgive my noobness but what is the "metagame"? I always see people posting about "the meta" and have no clue what it means!

The game outside the game. That is to say, if everyone at your local cardshop where you play is running a control deck you can say that you have a meta heavy with control. The meta can change a lot from week to week.

Hey guys,
I'm a relatively casual player, but I am looking to purchase single cards to upgrade my black zombie and other decks. I was wondering if you guys had any good advice about where I can order single cards online and what some of the best sites are for online ordering. Any help would be much appreciated!
