Let's not forget that in this moment in the DotP 2009 lifecycle, the crowd of Wizards supporters (which was larger than it is now on these boards) were assuring us that the reason they abandoned 2009 was to concentrate on making a bug-free 2012, with core deck editing, and better, smoother graphics, and no syncing errors.
"Fool me once," George Bush once infamously muttered through for a while, "and the point is you don't get fooled again."
The idea that they want you to be a customer AGAIN to enjoy the fixes belies the historical record. They just want you to become a customer AGAIN. Fixes are a marginal concern if folks keep buying. Besides, if they really are going to shovel a new DotP game out every year or two, their incentive to fix anything, ever, is minimal (and bordering on non-existant) because they are always going to be directing their attention to the new erstwhile moneymaker version.
The sad part (not that there's just one) is that this game could be a huge moneymaker for them, if they made it about sustained and meaningful choices. I consider now and again writing a post/proposal for how decks should be designed in future games, with a 36-7 core deck and 20 initial unlocks. This would get followed by 8 deck expansion packs over the course of two years, with roughly 3 new cards per existing deck, and a series of 3 core expansions, which would increase total decks by 4 each (the opposite of the current deck pack strategy). The decks would then be designed around variations within a theme, and would allow players to adapt deck strategy to the Duels meta, or to play variations of the same planeswalker deck with different methodologies. The decks would avoid (for the most part) the bomb strategy and the dead/useless card problem, and instead focus on allowing player decisions to matter (so there would be no near-unanimous "of course I'm going to replace that card with this unlock as soon as I unlock it" feeling).
But I've suggested (loosely) something like this a while back, maybe a year or so, and seriously, why expend too much effort on it?

Agreed. Releasing a new game is not "fixing" the last game, it's just making a new game. It is only of any consolation to those who bought the previous one if a discount is offered. I think they should seriously consider that.
I would love to see them take the deck design in the direction you mention Ken. It is sad when some cards are clearly total guff and hit the sideboard never to be seen again.
I find it hard to believe it's not financially viable for them to increase the quality in order to maintain a market. But I guess it comes down to how many people who have said they aren't going to buy it cave in and do so. If most people do, they have no incentive to improve anything, legal aspects aside.

Well that's kind of sand considering the games is called Duels of the paneswalkers 2012. i was hoping to see some of the innistrad block, and the upcoming avacyn on it, as some of the cards on liliana's deck, maybe some love for the vampires deck?

Just out of interest...Microbless, or anybody else from Wizards, have not been in touch since the initial message have they?
Looks like their promise of increased communication got off to a great start.
Why aren't they here explaining or answering questions from people who are asking legitimate queries about why they should be expected to buy the next game?

Nope, there have been no further communications. I've tried to get things going but I'm not getting any responses.

IIRC microbless said back in the dotp 09 days, that theres a lot of legal issues and red tape stopping him from coming on here and speaking freely.

My opinion for the next game (assuming I even decide to buy it with the mood I'm in), is that any card bugs should get listed on the gatherer site (potentially many times) as well as in this forum. Especially when the card doesn't follow the gatherer rulings.
Robvalue: Copy target bug or glitch. You may choose a new card for the copy... --- http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/29193605/Promotional_Unlock_Cards_List --- Will never buy games made by Arena Net again.

Oh, I didn't know that. Fair enough I suppose. Saying that however, Wizards obviously agreed with him posting his initial post which promised the increased communication. It would seem strange to say that if he then has to go and ok everything with the higher ups if he wants to respond.
The cynic in me is thinking that they got him to post that initial message just to put an end to the Twitter campaign.

Im on your side, he says its legal issues, it could be, but theres still a massive lack of communication. They either need better lawyers or they need to just be open and honest.

Totally agree, its kinda funny that we get a message from WotC, right when the twitter campaign was at its height. Clearly it was getting to them (at least a little bit). The fact that they made promise's of "more transparency" and "better communication", only to completely ignore us again, really reveal's the whole thing as nothing more than a brush off.
I work for Ford, If we treated our customers this way, there would be class action suits for decade's and probably a congressional investigation. WotC is not some small time, flash in the pan company. In the world of CCG's their a global powerhouse, for a comany that big to ignore a whole subset of customers is pretty sickening.
I love MTG and still enjoy playing DotP, but this whole experience has definately giving me a different view of WotC.
