Way back when (Kamigawa-Ravnica Standard), I had a RBW Control deck that won with Enduring Ideal and Firemane Angels. It ended up getting a ridiculous win% online because when Enduring Ideal resolves, you can't lose the game. The primary reason for that was because of Dovescape , followed by Night of Soul's Betrayal to create a lock on spells, and then Form of the Dragon (+Phyrexian Arena) for CA and to kill/protect from creatures. I am curious as to whether the upgraded form of this combo, Dovescape + Curse of Death's Hold, coupled with the ability to trump games by tutoring up Volition Reins or Leylines of Void/Sanctity would be viable in Modern. What do you think? Is Aggro just too good for a 7 mana sorcery to resolve?
It's really not even about giving niche cards to black.
It should be about giving black cards to Niche.

I tried making a goofy casual Enduring Ideal modern build. There have been quite a few cards since Kamigawa that give it some real threats. The idea behind mine was to win with Dovescape + Raking Canopy , just because it fit in my colors (G/W), or to fetch a Lucent Liminid and give it Eldrazi Conscription . Paradox Haze is another great tool for the deck too. It was fun and seemed like it had potential, but I scrapped it before I tested it too much for a more competitive deck.

It almost has promise, although, like, creatures and stuff.
The lock/infinite with Enduring Ideal/Guile was something I always wanted to build into a multiplayer deck, although I realize that getting to 7 once and then surviving a turn might be easie than casting a pair of 6drops after getting them into your hand.
Luckily, we have stop-having-fun guys to remind us that having anything more than 60 cards in your deck is tantamount to being a rapist and anyone considering it should be strung up by their **** .

Friend of mine has been messing with it. He even has a Form of the Dragon that says "I'm a Dragoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon" on it. Or it might be the a's that are repeated. But yeah. If you can live long enough the deck wins. But good luck against tron.

Maybe run it as u/w for counters? Also, have a few backup plans in case ideal gets taken out (gideon, for example).
Anyways, I'm not sure how good shutting down noncreature spells really is. Sure, it can kill combo and stop burn from killing you, but why not just run leyline of sanctity for that? I'd say your first priority will probably be stopping them from killing you. Form of the dragon unless you're playing vs faeries or delver, in which case you can fetch teferi's moat. Once you get form/moat (and leyline if you need it) out, you're golden. The only case in which I can see you needing dovescape is if they have enchantment removal, but then you're either about to die to creatures (in which case you'll lose by the time your next turn rolls around anyways) or you're not (in which case you can just tutor up another next turn, or get greater auramancy first.
1000th post November 26, 2010. Where Islands gets his decks: Spoiler:
Show
It was revealed to me in a dream. All the cards were in my dream except for three slots which I plugged in as Vault Skirge.
FULL DISCLOSURE: The dream was post AVR so there was a copy of Slayer's Stronghold. I decided to keep it pre AVR in my post here.
EDIT: I just remembered. The Skirges might have been 2x Whipflare and 1x something else, probably War and Peace.
EDIT2: Currently 4-0 in my first four games with this. My opponents have been very angry. I fought off a Wurmcoil from Grixis for six turns before I found my second Dispatch. Jeez, I can do a lot of damage.
EDIT3: Streak broken. Lost to an unexpected Overrun. Cracking a Shrine for 10 wasn't enough.
How Kedi tests his decks: Spoiler:

also, I've been playtesting this deck in my sleep today that kinda freaked me out
