So I was playing with the idea of Birthing Pod latnight, and came up with a decent deck (for 3 hours anyways). Here's the list: 1x Phyrexian Tower 1x Swamp 15x Forest 4x SkullClamp 2x Manamorphose (Going for 4) 4x Birthing Pod 4x Birds of Paradise 3x Disciple of the Vault 4x Lotus Cobra 1x Elvish Visionary 1x Fauna Shaman 1x Wall of Blossoms 4x Elvish Spirit Guide 2x Mentor of the Meek 4x Solemn Simulacrum 1x Genesis (foil ) 1x Cao Cao, Lord of Wei 2x Clone Shell 3x Sharuum the Hegemon (need 1 more) 1x Platinum Angel 1x Protean Hulk (need 2 or 3) Incase you didn't see it, the wincon is Disciple of the Vault is on the board. A Sharuum is either in play or in the graveyard. A second Sharuum enters the battlefield. If the second sharuum is in the grave, it comes into play. They are sacced for being legendary, THEN the come into play ability triggers. Return one, then the other. Repeat. Also, the mana fixing is astounding, so I can get away with my land set up (though I might add 1 Island and 1 Plains just to make castng Sharuum not so stressful...). Anyways, thoughts?

I like it, but there's a few changes I would make... Your creature cmc curve for this deck is currently 7/7/6/4/4/3/2 which is fine.. but I don't like Spirit Guide here. It isn't that great with pod... 9/10 if it's in your hand you're going to discard it for mana rather than play it as as pod fuel... also it doesn't have a ETB or LTB effect. Phyrexian Metamorph can help get your combo online the same as if there was 2 Sharuums out. Clone Shell is ok, but something like Razor Hippogriff could be better. I strongly aggree on adding in a plains and an island, they will help most of your non and cards to see play if you drew them... I don't see the point of see many SkullClamp, yea is good, but the only creatures you can really equip it too here are your mana producers/fixers and the Disiple... all of which you want to keep around. Cao Cao doesn't fit pod decks at all. It's nice and provides discard... but it does nothing when you pod it or pod for it... Maybe take that out for the Hippogriff... or an Acidic Slime . Your deck as no answers to threats really. It's like it's saying "hey don't hurt me while I draw allot and set up my combo". Acidic Slime s, Fiend Hunters , Murderus RedCap s, Archon of Justice ... something to disrupt your opponent might help this deck out allot. I hope this helps.

I built this only with my rare binder and some commons from a friend since I'm not at home at the moment, but I'll definitely throw in Acidic Slme s when I get home. Also, I'm only rnning Sprit Guides until I can get some Eternal Witness es Other than that, I'll try to get another Archon of Justice of two for this deck (my only one right now is in EDH). So far, it's been protected by the sheer amount of creatures (usually 8sish on turn 4 or 5). Also, clamp is in there to put on something before I sac it to pod. Also adds that last-minute draw when I really need it. It really makes a bad hand good. I'll probably change it up a lot over time, but this is what I have thrown together as of 11pm - 2am lastnight. Also, Clone Shell s are great when over half of the deck is creatures. Even if it's a bad creature, it'll lkely be a 1-3 so I can start the chain over, not to mention Sharuum from when it's podded. Also, I think I'll get metamorphs because they not only clone Sharuum, but they also clone Birthing Pod .

Looks pretty cool. Maybe you might have too much card draw, not enough fightyness? The great thing about B Pod is there are soooo many ways to build them. If you want to check out my deck idea for BPod there is a link in my signature.

It needs ridiculous draw because it's combo deck (hence the wincon). Your deck's a pretty nice aggro build though.

Sorry, I was under the mindset that you had to put the clamp on 1 toughness creature inorder to get the most out of it... wow I like it allot better here in pod now. Leave it it in
EDIT: 4 Clamps still may be a bit much though.

Lol itis fine. I can't say I don't think of things. Also, 4 clamps aren't enough. They're re-usable, and the deck has 33 creatures. I've had 10 cards in my hand for 3 turns in a row while castng 3 or 4 spells a turn because of clamps. They are BEAST.

I would never play non standard pod without abusing undying, persist, or creatures that return from the gy. that may just be me though.
