The only real possibilities for the art shown are Glacial Chasm (because the foregrounded feature is a chasm in a glacier) or Dark Depths (artwork is appropriate for a snow land and there is a "dark depth"). My money is on Chasm because I'm pretty sure there would be some hint of Marit Lage lurking in the Dark Depths art. Either way, it shows that they're willing to put "doesn't tap for mana" lands in this set.

Also, there is no concept of "thawing" in this artwork, so I'm ruling out Thawing Glaciers (although it might still be in the set).

There is no hint of thawing on the original card, Thawing Glaciers , either. How do you show "thawing," when a glacier looks the same when it's growing and when it's retreating?

They can break the reserved list, if they feel it necessary. The reserved list has also been altered in the past, not to mention there are cards on that list that are ridiculously reserved (they will also break the list when the cards are available digitally, which really questions what the list is FOR). This is a good time for them to break the list.

While it's true they have the ability to break the list, they're still not going to. Not after what happened the last time they put reserved list cards into upcoming products without advance warning and got their fingers burned.

If and when they do decide to alter or break the reserve list (and I hope they do it soon, though I know they won't), they will almost certainly tell us well in advance of actually doing it, so as not to create the same kind of panicked response by dealers as happened last time--something like "Two years from now, we will cease enforcing the Reserve List. We are doing this {because foo}, and want to assure you that have no intentions of {doing bar}, because that would be stupid and hurt our players; we're not stupid and don't want to hurt our players."

Or at least I hope they'll do that. It's what they should have done last time.

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

Seeing as ice is frozen water, and thus thawing ice would produce liquid water, and also seeing as there is a pool of liquid water in the art of the original Thawing Glaciers, not to mention the fact that, instead of being a sheer wall of ice, it is a sloped mound of it, I conclude that the original art of Thawing Glaciers does indeed show thawing.

Main support of Thawing Glaciers is that it's the card that makes the most sense historically. Glacial Chasm was never on the level Thawing Glaciers was.

What do people think about the other inclusions? I'm guessing we'll be seeing City of Brass , Maze of Ith , and probably Volcanic Island (on account of it being left out). There are others I'm forgetting, I'm sure, but that's a start. City of Traitors , perhaps?

I'd be very surprised if Island doesn't make it into FTV: Realms.

My guess is that the preview art is for a fancy new Glacial Chasm.  Call me cynical, but it would be exciting to see a land that wasn't 80% of my store's trash rare box.

Thawing Glaciers is on the reserved list.  As cool as it would be to get a new one, we won't.

City of Traitors and  Volcanic Island are on the reserve list.

Here is the reserve list for those that need to look at it: www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x...

The reserved list is as much a problem for interesting, forgotten cards as it is for super expensive ones.

I'd say we'll get one promo land from the next set.... Then it depends on what era the designer is from. FTV:Legendsdidnt have any cards FROM that expansion, so all bets are really off.  I'd say a good number will be cards that already made it into Time Spiral as "Timeshifted".  Arena and Pennlehaven are a given.  Dryad Arbor because it is unique. probably an artifact land.

Thematically, they are probably going to do a follow up
To Planechase this year... Cards that evoke unique locations will get placement over power cards... Like in FTV:legends where they were choosen as possible Commanders. They will probably put something like Enchant World or land effecting artifact in there too.
