while I understand that there are people for whom these are surprising rules revelations, it'd be really nice if there was some level of complexity curve, so that those of us who already have a fairly in-depth rules knowledge can challenge ourselves too. the most challenging part for me was trying to figure out why I was supposed to think I could put Grimgrin into play.

Blind Seer tomorrow?
Well, so much for that theory. Anyone know the theme? Or should I just expect no Monty=no clever theme?

" b. Both Walking Corpses block the Stormblood Berserker."
C is also a valid option is it not? Deadly Allure isn't Lure, it doesn't say it must be blocked by ALL creatures, just that it must be blocked. Blocking it with one Walking Corpse and having the other one block the cat is a perfectly valid blocking assignment since having the Berserker blocked even just by one creature satisfies the requirement.

For people like you, the Judge Center is the place to be. You could go there and take some Easy Practice Tests (I recommend starting there), and move on to some Hard Practice tests if you do really well. Note that those tests are meant for judges, so a couple questions will be about resolving issues at tournaments but the majority of questions are about the rules.
Additionally, if you haven't already, you can look into becoming a Rules Advisor. A note for that test: If you fail it, it has a 2 week cooldown that increases with each failure, so be sure to hit up the Easy Practice tests first.

But that breaks the restriction that the Berserkers must be blocked by two creatures.

Question 1 in this rules quiz is pretty brainless, although questions 2 and 3 did make me think a bit. It's good to present those sorts of clarifications, but "legendary isn't a creature type" didn't really need explaining; it's before the word "creature" rather than after, that should be enough to make the distinction clear (except maybe to a few grognards who slept through Kamigawa, only just woke up and still think Legend is a creature type, and even they should be asking themselves why it's on the left). Mind you, I think it would be rather reasonable to change the rules so that the correct answer to the third scenario would be E; while it may not be possible to make Lava Axing Sorin possible without redirection, it doesn't seem as though ruling "If possible, a 'defending player' effect applies to a planeswalker being attacked; if this is not possible, it applies to that planeswalker's controller instead". So Hellrider could apply damage to Sorin because planeswalkers are perfectly capable of taking damage, and there's not really any reason the rules can recognize them in this case (perhaps formally the rule could refer to "defending object", where "object" is defined as "player or planeswalker", though it would make more sense to just have the card read "defender" (sorry, Walls) or "that which it's attacking" or something.
My New Phyrexia Writing CreditsMy M12 Writing CreditsAs far as the benefit of the rest of Magic is concerned, gold cards in Legends were executed perfectly. They got all the excitement a designer could hope out of a splashy new mechanic without using up any of the valuable design space. Truly amazing. --Aaron Forsythe's Random Card Comment on Kei Takahashi

I actually do that with the Judge Center tests. It's interesting getting into the mind of the test writers and trying to figure out which misconceptions or problems each answer is trying to catch.
And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real. --Erin McKean, Redefining the Dictionary

I did this week's Cards of the Day before going on vacation, so there is a theme. I make no claims about how clever it is.

LOL, oops... got lost in the middle of that sentence and forgot what I was actually saying. A creature that's attacking a planeswalker won't deal combat damage to the defending player, trample or not. I'll see if I can get that fixed.
Update: fixed! (Also, web guys are awesome.)
More rules articles please!

I was under the impression that if something says 'must be blocked if able,' however there are restrictions to blocked that creature, those restrictions do not have to be met. For example, if someone cast Deadly Allure on a Zepher Sprite and I controlled a Goblin Balloon Brigade and an open red source, I would not be compelled to give the Goblin flying. This was similar enough to the 'must be blocked by two creatures' ability that I missed the question. I guess I'm just curious if the distinction is meaningful or arbitrary.
