I love how Monty actually takes the time to read the monthly threads for his articles and even posts on them. THAT, other WotC writers, is how you connect with your audience. Not to say the other guys don't connect, but it's better when you can actually have a discussion.
QFT. I also find it amusing to see how much effort is put into those Cards of the Day. To be honest, I almost never figure out the theme (unless it's glaringly obvious), but I like the fact that it's there.
Zindaras' meta is like a fossil, ancient and its secrets yet to be uncovered. Only men of yore, long dead, knew of it.

The Mono-Green Aggro deck shown today is interesting, but any ideas for us mere mortals to make it a little more budget-friendly? Thanks.

It's actually easier to do Cards of the Day when I come up with a theme, because it gives some direction. I've tried just selecting random cards, but that's no fun. I also like to entertain myself, which ridiculous themes helps me achieve!

You're really gonna post a deck in this section that was just talked about in an article? Poor form MTG staff. You guys are better than that.
second that. Same decklist two days in a row on the same site is not really my definition of bringing fresh content.

Yay Electrolyze as promo. That is one of my favorite cards. Boo Feast of Blood . I wish they would make up their mind whether they want playable cards or random jank. Both Faithless Looting and Electrolyze are awesome. Feast of Blood and Treasure Hunt ? Not as much. I caved and bought the first one, and will definitely buy 2 & 3 if only for the snazzy promos, but whether I buy 4 will definitely depend on whether the story is going anywhere. Issue #1 was interesting, but nothing exceptional. We'll see if the story can take off.

Textless Treasure Hunt already exists for all your Zombie Hunting needs, why another promo of that card? And seriously, Feast of Blood ?
The end is always nigh.

Can't tell if this week's Card of the day theme is "Missing angel leaders" (Serra? Avacyn?) or another fantasy book series.

Another? We're still at it. Today it's "The Silver Chair", next up is "The Horse and His Boy". But I can't tell the card. Some knight? So far it's always been in the cardname...

Youthful Knight ? Or, if it's being split across two cards (which would also fill out the week), one of the horses, followed by Zombie Fanboy ?

I think it is a stretch at best to say that Northern Paladin implies a connection to the Northern Verge in M12. That may have been what the flavor team lead had in mind, but it's a pretty big logical leap. "The North" is a fourth of the world (usually); there could be any number of organizations with an opinion about it.
My New Phyrexia Writing CreditsMy M12 Writing CreditsAs far as the benefit of the rest of Magic is concerned, gold cards in Legends were executed perfectly. They got all the excitement a designer could hope out of a splashy new mechanic without using up any of the valuable design space. Truly amazing. --Aaron Forsythe's Random Card Comment on Kei Takahashi
