It's got lots of threats, and u generate card advantage through 2 ways. 1st, you have physical CA through efficient draw spells. 2nd, you have card quality advantage, as you are playing superior cards in the same mana slot with the life paid. MD metamorphs handle hexproof legends, as well as copy dragons and extractors. Peeking t1 with a probe let's u know whether or not to leave leak mana up or keep setting up your moves. The tree allows you to re-stabilize from aggro, then you get to use it as free pump for your dragon to get good and fat off of. Venser resets the tree, makes dragon unblockable, and his ult is rude with all the cheap spells u play. Dismember does amazing work with extractor out, allowing u to take down titans for 1 mana. The extractor also let's you do so much board control from your spells, or just bang the dome for some severe damage. Sb should handle Pod, undying, zombies, tokens, whatever.
It does massive work, period. A perfect hand is like a copperline gorge , birds of paradise , gitaxian probe , and a gut shot . Other 3 slots are almost irrelevant. I top deck gold even without draw. I'm actually thinking of dropping a land, cuz I find I rarely want more than 3 w/ a bop, 4 w/o. Getting to 5 for venser is nice, but not necessary for the win, but nice. Idk, but this is it for now!
i know how the deck works. I was just saying I tried another verison of rage and it didnt work so well. I even did the tezzeret rage and it seemed too slow but when it hit it was absolutely brutal. brutal as in 15 damage in a turn. But that is late game and I have decks that have done 15+ by turn 3.
i understand what your deck can do to those decks as well. either way the deck has its strengths and its weaknesses and any deck with a perfect hand can be brutal.
Sure, a good tempered steel deck can do damage like that uninterrupted. But that is never gonna happen. The extractor here is just back up, to add a denser threat matrix. It's pretty much an anti-meta weapon and it's very effective. It stops WRR, delver, zombies, whatever. I just wanted something diff. Hate this "turn creature sideways" rinse repeat meta as is.
i just really feel like if i can get my first extractor to stick, that i have a very good chance of winning the game. my only problem so far has been being able to find an extractor when i really need one. the diabolic tutor was super helpful, but i just replaced that with tezz gambit.
just had a hand with nothing but land, extractor, gut shot and tezz's gambit. i played land, took out birds of paradise with gut shot. turn 2 and 3 were lands (drew another tezz's gambit and a metamorph), turn 4 i played extractor, turn 5 copied the extractor, dealt 4 damage, and turn 6 with 6 mana dropped 2 tezz's gambits, dealing 16 damage.
there are a lot of tests where the damage is dealt just from extractor and metamorph copying it, then dropping something like dismember for 1 mana and 2 life to deal 9 damage on turn 6 or 7.
i might drop heartless summoning. i feel that grand architect can rush stuff out just as fast. not sure, im going to test with it both ways.
ugh, getting ready for that 10 hour baking shift lol, see you all in the morning
